Wow, it must be scary to be in the middle of that. He doesn't seem too scared though.

It sounds like he has a cameraman with him and he says he's on TV, but why is there no video?

No video because it gives away position. Plus they need to set up a dish, which would be tricky when your taking fire.

they are filming it, but can't show it right now, he said they will probably show it tomorrow since there are civilians involved...and yeah it got pretty intense when you can hear the hellfire missiles being shot off. arnot kicks ass.

Oh ok, he just mentioned that they are taping it and that they'll show the video when they can get the tape out.

I don't think they're worried about giving away their position since the Iraqi's obviously already know where they are (they are in a firefight with them, after all)

I think the main reason is that as you mentioned there's no satellite truck broadcasting. I saw a live firefight last week when Sky News was caught in a firefight and broadcasted it live. It was pretty amazing, you saw how they operate... first infantry, then they laid low and brought in tanks, and finally they called in an airstrike.

anyone catch that report on the loud speaker trick?...they had huge speakers attached to vehicles blasting what sounded like a bunch of tanks...apparently it was pointed sideways to draw iraqi fire to basically nowhere...and in turn exposing there positions.

He just mentioned that they are finding radios that the Iraqis use for command and control. Who made them and sold them to Iraq? The peaceful French of course.

It's over now, but it was on Msnbc on tv and not the internet.

I guess it was some sort of ambush?

I like the quote Bob gave of the general...something to the effect of "We're the U.S. Marines...we took Iwo Jima....Baghdad ain't $hit"

Over now.. I caught most of it, and it was amazing stuff. The Marines were securing a bridge across the Tigris near Al Kut, and a group of Republican Guard in a warehouse opened fire with small arms, RPGs, and mortar fire, so the Marines fought back and called up a couple of tanks and a Cobra for fire support. Sounds like Arnot did an outstanding job taking care of the civilians caught in the crossfire (they apparently escaped from the warehouse where they were being held by the Iraqi soldiers).

Wow, that was an intelligent and well thought out post.

Not bad for a 15 year old.

Maybe you should keep quiet until your balls drop, boy.

Is that the best you can come up with?

BTW, you annoying imp, you make it sound like I'm doing something wrong by wanting to see the video, but if there wasn't a demand for it they wouldn't have a cameraman there filming it.

I'm sure he's not there just for me.

Of course he's not there just for you; I simply find your apparent attitude of entertainment to be juvenile.

There is obviously a great demand from people wanting to see this war, otherwise every major network would not have reporters and cameramen there filming it and reporting the action. You make it sound like I'm somehow wrong by wanting to watch it, but I alone would not cause every network to give war coverage.

I suppose that you are against this war, and therefore you are offended and angered by people like me who support it and are interested in knowing what's going on.

Yes, I, like the majority of the nation support this war. You are in the minority, in the lunatic fringe who feel the need to pester those who do not share your views. You will not change my opinion so please go away.

I find it interesting that you would immediate classify me as someone in the "lunatic fringe". It helps to dismiss someone's opinion when you've already discarded any point of view contrary to your own. I found your enthusiasm for video feed to be surprising and very disheartening, for reasons that should be self-evident. As 'amazing' as it would be to see video feed of live battles, wouldn't it be better to let our troops do their job and focus their energies on survival, rather than focusing some random camera on all the action, possibly endangering their lives and any future movements by them?

I've watched CNN and read BBC almost non stop since this war began. The night we launched our initial attack, I didn't sleep a wink - I couldn't stop reading and watching the information surrounding the war. This war scares the hell out of me, for numerous reasons which I won't go into here.

I refuse to go away, just as I would not ask you to. Despite our differences in opinion, I would like to hear your viewpoint, as they do nothing but generally add to my own pool of knowledge.

I find it interesting that you would <SNIP>.

I do not care to converse with you. You strike me as an opinionated, energenetic youngster, probably still in college. A "rebel without a clue". I'm sure you'll never admit it though, since you want to give yourself more credibility.

You posted a message that was obviously intended to be inflammatory, you meant to start an argument and imply that I "get off" on watching the war, as if I want the war to take place for my viewing pleasure. This is completely wrong and for you to make such an assumption and go as far as make an inflammatory post that implied this, it showed your immaturity and lack of couth. You have already proven yourself in my mind to be worthless and a waste of my time.

Do not bother replying, for this conversation is over. You blew your opportunity to hold a meaningful conversation with me.
