Am I the only oriental that likes PF Changs?

It seems a lot of orientals do not like Americanized Chinese food. I like Americanized Chinese food and PF Changs is one of my favorite Chinese restaurants. Any other orientals like PF Changs?

I'm a cracker, and I've only been there once. It wasn't bad, but I think I like the stuff I get from the Asians around the corner better.

I love PF Chang's but I'm a big fan of fusion restaurants...If you're anywhere near San Francisco, try Crustacean also

Oh, and I'm also Oriental

never had it... but I'm not a big fan of the fast food style chinease I prefer the buffet style myself (but those are quite hit or miss also so I got my 2 I like in phx)

So, is oriental an ok word to use again?

What's wrong with oriental? It means from the orient. Nothing derogatory about that. 😕

Oriental refers to objects, Asian refers to people. Or so I was told by an Asian friend.

I dunno, I remember hearing it for 5 minutes from my friend who was a teacher for saying Asian. He said we were supposed to say oriental, which to me sounds more derogatory. It's funny, because I don't ever hear anyone say, "Say African-American, not black," but that's also derogatory IMO because black sounds worse than AA.

Edit: Mixed up my story. And I've never had PF Changs so I wouldn't know.

Oriental is more accurate. Asian could mean a blond hair blue eyed Russian or a person from India.

So in other words, Asians/Orientals can't get their stuff together enough to figure out what they're offended by? 😛

Semantics...

Maybe, but it's good to know the polite way to say things so I can actively ignore them instead of just being a moron. 🙂

From wikipedia:
In the late 20th century America, the political correctness movement dubbed the terms "Orient" and "Oriental" as "archaic" or "politically incorrect". However, the overwhelming majority of English speakers worldwide believe there is nothing wrong with the term as a method of distinguishing East Asians (such as Chinese, Koreans and Japanese) from Middle Easterners, South Asians and Siberians, all of whom fall under the umbrella of "Asian."

I do not understand why some orientals have a problem with oriental.

Another question, why not classify us as yellow?

We use white and black, why not yellow?
