the 3rd act of casino royale is universally agreed that it was a POS. 1st and 2nd acts were "perfect." then they ruined the movie with a retarded 3rd act.
i liked the ending, it set up bond for the future movies they already made, as a man hurt by a woman so he gets with a lot of them, and killed the man for killing the girl.
it was a great ending, maybe not perfect, but great and goes with the character

I can't even say that it was a good movie. It doesn't even get the scrutiny of being a successful bond film before I think that. Okay, I get that they are showing Bond's evolution. That's fine. He's supposed to get his ass beat. He's not the perfect machine he grows to yet. I get that. But the story line just randomly changes direction at so many intervals it is a BAD MOVIE. I was spending more time trying to figure out what was going on in parts than I was trying get what the character is feeling.
And for the record, taking an hour to make a Texas Hold 'Em match a suspensful plot twist was ridiculous.

Yep. It was entirely unnecessary and made the movie too long as well.
Casino Royale is a great Bond flick, BUT it really isn't a true Bond flick. Now that Sony has finally won control of the franchise, they took out all the retro "campy-ness" that was in every Bond movie prior to, and replaced it with a dark gritty modernist feel. I'll be the first to say that I like it, but I also must say that it is not within the Bond tradition.

The movie started sucking after the dude got his balls flogged. Bond owned by a chick? Please...stop.
Edit: I did think Daniel Craig was an awesome choice for the role. I wasn't too big on the idea of casting a guy with an eerie resemblance to Wayne Rooney as Bond but the guy was super-slick.

the entire last hour of that movie was bad. no flow, too many random obstacles for bond to overcome, the villian was a pussy (come on, give him something more menacing than an asthma inhaler), the poker scenes were completely improbable; im not a bond fan at all, but this movie confirmed it since this was supposed to be one of the best ones in years. if this is true, i would hate to see the ****** ones.
