Am I the only one not scared to fly?

After flying probably over 50 times in the past 2 years, I've acquired the skill of falling asleep before the plane takes off and waking up when it lands.

I enjoy flying. Although I havent been on a plane in a while, I wouldnt even think twice about getting on another. (maybe I would think twice, think about how much fun its going to be)

I'm not afraid to fly, but I don't like the hassle of it. Getting there 1-2 hours before, sitting around, the cramped coach seats, etc.

I managed to take one of these: Link on a plane, in my wallet, from either UK -> Canada -> Hawai'i -> UK, or it was UK -> Michigan -> Indianapolis -> back to the UK (can't remember which).

That means I could have had access to it during the flight. While it isn't going to blow stuff up, I could certainly have threatened someones life with it, but they didn't catch it. (This was sometime between 9/11 and 2005).
Security checks aren't infallible. But I still fly without fear.

I've never been scared to fly and I'm still not.

That said, I dread it. I mean, I really fscking hate to fly. Why? Hours of being couped up in a tiny seat with my knees in my chin listening to some fscking kids scream and cry and having some lonely idiot with bad breath always sit next to me and attempt to talk to me the entire flight. It is NEVER the hot chick that sits next to me. Nope. Always the fat, lonely talkitive idiot with BO and bad breath.

And to top it off... I can NEVER sleep.

I'm not scared to fly but I won't do it any mor ejust because of the complete inconvenience it has become. I'd rather rent a car and drive somewhere on my own that have to wait for hours to get on, wait for an hour to take off, wait an hour to get off, and then do it all over again later.

If I had a group of people going somewhere I'd rent a small private plane and just go ourselves. Far easier, faster, and way more convenient.

FLying used to be a luxory.... Now it's borderline punishment for wanting to go somewhere.

Flying is the safest methood of transport available, even if a few planes go down a year due to terrorism it will still be alot safer than driving.

Air travel has been remarkably safe since Nov. 2001. It's been relatively safe throughout the world short of those iffy third world airlines using old Russian planes.

I had a hot chick sit next to me on the way to hawaii, problem was my dad was there so :frown: Saw movies on her portable DVD player and on my laptop, it was fun but it could have been sooo much better.

Shyte I went from FL to TX two weeks after 9/11, never been on as empty of a flight as that.

Funny or sad thing was that there were some Muslim appearing people on the flight also so EVERYONE was avoiding them like they were contaminated or something.

I remember at my layover in ATL getting a steak from the Fridays there and they wouldn't even give me a plastic knife to cut it, they have to take it into the kitchen and cut it for me and brought it back all pre-cut into small pieces.

I wasn't worried about flying then and wouldn't be now either, if something like thats going to happen, it's going to happen, not much I can do either way to change that.

Who fvcking cares. If somebody wants to blow up a plane that badly, they'll find a way. And honestly, if I'm on that unlucky flight, it's my time anyway.

For example, I wanted to make a trip to Europe (GB & France) b/c I have some friends doing an exchange program with Cambridge Univ. The flight would've been with British Airways b/c they had the best fares and the greatest # of open seats. But now that Britain has deemed it necessary to ban carry-ons, I don't really want to go anymore. What an idiotic, ridiculous policy.

well overall, despite all the flak the flight business has recieved, only a very small percent of planes actually have problems. infact, the percentage of cars that have problems is much higher. of course if a car has a problem, you just pull over.

but in terms of security, i live in israel. even tho haifa was attacked constantly these last couple of weeks, still went there to visit my friend. if we become afraid of flying and stop flying, then we show the terrorists that their plots do work.
