Am I the only one irritated by so called "friends" who only call when...

they need something? I remember good times when friends would call each other to see "what's up" or talk. Now it's like "hello, how are you? By the way I was wondering if...."

Maybe I'm just getting old and grumpy?

Many years ago, a few of us invented a term for people like that.

They're not friend-friends... these are people you know from Work,School,Gym,Bar,etc... people you wouldn't know if you didn't have a common location of association.

They are known as "friendships of convenience"

You're only friends with them because it's convenient.

I too choose to avoid people like that, thus no real friends. Sure I know people some people you might call friends, but I dont.

Keep in mind however, sometimes people come up with a reason to talk to you if they really just want to talk to you and see how you are doing. Those people are OK in my book because I understand them. Its when that same person just keeps taking from you without giving back that its not OK.

I agree. I would also like to add that we should prevent baby mommas and baby daddys from happening to begin with.

aids is horrible for that since its easily controlled and not a rapid killer. it only makes people sick and lowers their productivity while keeping them alive. its total fail for population control, unlike say, war.
