I'm interested in all this from a more philosophical standpoint. Like I said earlier. If it gets to the point I don't like it anymore, I'll just leave :^)

I guess that's what I was trying to say. Nobody is forcing us to post here.

Some mod or hacker with a vendetta friggin' deleted my entire account back in 2006, post history and all. I was pretty pissed because like 7 - 8 years of posts disappeared into the ether, including my posts from NYC on 9/11 which are the only ones I really would have liked to retain for the history aspect.

I look back now and consider life in general and the happenings on a forum don't weigh in much. It's a fun diversion from boredom and source of good conversation though.

Some members, instead of notifying staff or just go about their business, decide to go in to the staff area, make copies of the 'complaints' and 'disciplinary' files, then disseminated that info to the people in the files and others.

Do you really think the staff wouldn't revoke the membership of those people? It shows a complete lack of character, maturity, and respect for the organization and its' staff (many or most of whom are volunteers).

Playing devil's advocate... but the people with 'complaints' and 'disciplinary' files... know who they are.

If mosh PM'd me and said "hey guyver.. the mods are watching you" .. my response would be... "so what else is new"

It's not like the "info" being passed around is really super secret.

Hell.. once a month we have a "how many infractions do you have" thread...

Well, the rumor I heard is that she was sharing screen shots from the mod forum. If it's true, she went beyond talking about it.

So yeah, I can see why you'd be afraid of getting in trouble, if your rumor is wrong.

Even if I'm right, I'm wrong in their eyes. There is no winning here

And what should be done about the members that talked about doing it, but didn't actually do it?

Whats the punishment for thought crimes?

According to you she was given a 6 month vacation and asked to apologize upon return. So maybe she never disseminated the info she attained on her own, asked other members for, or was just sent without asking, but apparently whatever was in her PM's was enough to show a lack of respect for the AT forums and its' staff.

6 month ban. After 6 months she has to answer a series of questions from the mods. If they like her answers they may or may not grant her access to post again. Her coming back, even if she plays her cards right is not guaranteed.

Also, I know for a fact she will not grovel at their feet, she is gone forever.

Why is it so apparent? Because she's banned? Ha. So you would think....

You're free to share the real reason she was banned.

I like to stay out of moderator crap, but that is bullshit.

They pretty much want her to be their bitch? For something they fucked up? Lol it's not like she hacked into it or something.

Wow.

The downfall of ATOT has begun. First with letting 12 year old trolls roam freely and now banning decent members and forcing them to beg to come back. I for one applaud Mosh for taking her stance and not being pressured into bitchville by the mods.

This is pathetic.

Another question that came to me. If nick gets the ban stick for this information does it confirm or deny what he says?

I do mod work. I've defended people I personally hated from other mods because it's the right thing to do. Anything else is an abuse of power.

Sounds like confirmation of what I was saying, since in your other forum(s) at times you were on the side of the minority, based on what you felt was 'better judgment'. ;)

I'm sure someone will be along any moment to set us straight.

Aside from being busted for their "thoughts"...what exactly were they 'thinking'...?

You want to play 'righteous' police...share more and let others decide...atleast some generalities. ;)

(/edit: And if this isn't something that can be discussed, then the thread should be locked, because it's just a useless banter where people have no idea what they are supporting/rejecting.)

Right, but Anand wants his forum run a certain way and it's not being run that way. He's not around to see it spiral into hell.

There's some core truths in life, and if they're given consideration, there's really only one conclusion that can be made. That conclusion isn't necessarily in the mods/cops/politicians... immediate best interests. Freedom doesn't feel good all of the time, but it isn't as painful as oppression..
