We're talking about abuse of power. Whether it's an internet forum, a cop on patrol. or illegal wiretapping. None of those is right, and the fact that this discussion relates to an internet forum doesn't make a bit of moral difference. A position of power shouldn't be taken advantage of in any situation. I already said I'm in this for the philosophical interest. I know little about the particulars, but it makes an interesting discussion if people act like adults.

This was an admin action and idontcare is not an admin. He was not aware of any global announcement or action regarding the people that were banned. The only people that knew were the admins. You and your rumours. that's exactly what they are.

What I wrote is the in the announcement is the truth. The three people that were banned were banned not for just peeking in on the mod forum for a looksie.

They were banned for actively disseminating the information to other people on the forum.

What is tfnn?

This guy named Wally started TFNN many years ago after getting a permaban from this forum. He wasn't given any reason (still, to this day) why he was permabanned. He made his own forum and several others from here started posting there. Some who got banned from here made tfnn their permanent home and gave it a negative stigma in the eyes of the mods here. TFNN is constantly accused of organizing attacks on Anandtech, none of which have ever been proven (because we don't have any reason to, we never have, ever, in any way).

The site owner chose not to continue TFNN just recently and the membership has since split between Loke's (Alone's) ddft.info and DivideByZero's nnft.net.

Plus letting the place be bombarded by troll post (not limits per day), no prior screening for new members, hey anyone with an IQ >50 is welcome.

I was 23 when I joined and it was better in some ways, worse in others.
Keep thinking maybe they should just have a hardware forum, software forum, and social area. And the social area really isnt that necessary given the nature of the site. But then people would wanna nef where they arent supposed to nef and that just causes problems.
