I have sandybridge mobile with a new battery, also skylake mobile. Battery life is about the same, I have windows 10 on both. The fan only runs on both when loaded.

The rage of CPUs is 35w-10w TDP mobile for sandybridge, 45w-4.5w TDP mobile skylake.

Going from 32nm to 14nm is a small difference really it is so small.
