Am I missing something? Why are there only 2 graphics settings for COD4?

Is this supposed to be right? Only Low and Normal for the graphics settings? I figured it might be based on your video card, but I have an 8800 GT OC, I would think it would be able to run better than my 7800

Same here (1950 XTX). Doesn't matter much anyway, runs smooth on max settings @ 1280x720 resolution and looks great.

Ok, I'm confused. I've played the CoD4 demo, and it has a pretty comprehensive list of graphics settings. Did they dumb it down for the full retail version?

Yeah, I really don't understand what they're talking about. Like I said, I only have the demo, but this is the graphics menu I see. Maybe they're referring to the fact that "Model Detail" and "Water Detail" only have Low and Normal settings?

😕

I guess so, but you can go to texture settings and select texture quality and change some options there.

Probably because it was made to run on consoles and they didn't put in higher textures for the PC version.

PCs are superior by far for graphics detail, they wouldn't do that... It sounds like a bug, or possibly they're just looking at the wrong menu.

There are a couple settings that only got to Normal or Low on the main settings. If you go to texture details there are a few that have the option of low, normal, high, and extra.

Some of you must be playing a different game or something; I see pretty much the same options as Call of Duty 2 and there are quite a few of them.

the high settings may be for DX10 users?
I don't think so...I'm running it on Vista x64, so I don't think DX10 has anything to do with it.

you're running on dx10 though so would you really know the difference?

I'm running Vista 32, and I had to install DX9 to get this game to run, I have both 9 and 10 on my system now, but if DX9 is required then that is what you have to run as far as I know. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but that's how it is on my system.

It's kind of weird, but I have heard of this issue before. Lets all state our videocards, and the options we see ? I'm running a 8800gts 320mb, in Vista 64x, 1680*1050, and I can't see high either. Just low/normal.

Im using an ATI card and I have many settings. Only 3 or 4 which are normal and low. I also see AA settings and in Textures there is a multitude of options.

Windows XP, XFX Nvidia 7950GT. Not sure what driver version. I've got all the options as well. Running at 1600x900 res and it's pretty smooth.

The graphic settings are (Yes/No) for the majority, Low/Normal for the Water and something else, Low/Normal/High/Extra for texture settings. I don't even understand why there is confusion.

^^^ That's just it, people want a max setting, but in COD4's case normal is just that, normal. There's no "ultra mega extreme" setting for water, but I mean how much higher a setting can you get or water then normal?

All I know is the game looks phenominal on my rig, Normal settings or whatever, it looks and plays great.
