Hang on, what's the age of consent in the US? Isn't it 16? In most places it's 16... or 14... why would he go to jail?

Depends on the state. In washington state there is a 60 month law making it legal for 16 on 21.

I agree it isn't cool (I haven't done anything like that), but i think it's smart law. 16 year olds are MORE THAN WILLING to have sex with 21+ year olds.
