When she talked about alternative facts I thought she was referring to the wrong Metro usage data they received. Has anyone heard any clarification on what she meant when she used that term? Unfortunate choice of words for sure....blood in the water sparks feeding frenzy.
She meant exactly what she said. It's one of those thing that is not to be spoken of out loud. That was the mistake. It's the MO of the right and they are very good at it.

Kind of like lying about 2/3 of the stimulus package being tax cuts? That kind of lying?

There's a difference between lying & being mistaken. The poster making that mistake about the stimulus has abandoned the claim. Trump & Kellyanne double down on things they know aren't true. That's def lying.

You say they're doubling down on things they know aren't true. It appears to me that they now understand that they were wrong on crowd size and have repositioned their claim to include attendance and all media source views. They've clearly backed off their original claimed and aren't doubling down on it as you stated. Or am i missing something here?

You will notice that Obama never spent an instant on something as trivial and inane as attendance.

Trump the 3 year old still cannot LET IT FUCKING GO. The lack of maturity on his part is pathetic.... bickering about attendance a full week after the inauguration.... now that is true class. This is important to him? Why? WHY? WHY?!!!?!?!!!

I retract my 2/3 statement. It was actually 64%. $288 billion in tax cuts from the stimulus bill itself plus another $671 billion in tax cuts from renewing the Bush tax cuts. The total stimulus bill was $831 billion paired with extending the Bush tax cuts pushed the total to $1500 billion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_R...Reauthorization,_and_Job_Creation_Act_of_2010

To the extent that the stimulus failed to stimulate the economy, we have clear evidence that tax cuts are an ineffective method of promoting economic growth. They are a totally awesome way to explode the federal deficit.

I agree that this should never have been brought up. He's not a career politician and he's going to have to learn the hard way on just how the game is played.

This is a vile smear. Ms. Conway didn't say "alternative facts". She said Spicer was provided information by "alternative fax", as opposed to say, email. Watch the tape. The left will stop at nothing to discredit this intelligent woman.

Is this sarcasm because I can't tell. I hope it is for your sake.

Your "analysis" is highly dubious. Polifact says 28%. I linked their analysis...did you not read it?

Could have just said.... "I don't know how many people showed up and I do not think it is that important, next question please...."

If asked again, simply respond, "asked and answered already...."

and I am not even in politics!

Trump could have said a million things differently...add this one to the pile. The media was clearly attempting to delegitimize him by comparing attendance...you get that...right? This happened at the same time the reporter falsely claimed MLK's bust was removed. And I can't blame him for being pissed about it...he just needs to learn to play the game better.

IronWing is clearly not abandoning his claim and is now doubling down (64% is essentially the same as 2/3)...so is he now lying per the standard you previously set, or is he somehow still just merely mistaken?

BTW, still waiting for your response to #107.

Trump & Spicer laid out the bullshit about being the bigly-est & Kellyanne doubled down on it.

"Repositioned" is just another way of saying "slithered away".

“I’m a very big person when it comes to the environment. I have received awards on the environment.”
-- President Trump remarks during a meeting with business leaders Jan 23

Trump touted his alleged environmental accolades as early as 2011, when he said during a “Fox and Friends” interview, “I’ve received many, many environmental awards.” He repeatedly claimed this during the 2016 presidential campaign: “I’ve won many environmental awards, by the way. I’ve actually been called an environmentalist, if you can believe that.”*

Are there any facts to support this claim to environmental fame?

The Facts

The short answer is: No. Media outlets and environmental groups have tried to find evidence of this claim since 2011 but have come up short. We could not readily find references to Trump’s environmental awards in news coverage over the past 10 years. We checked with the Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund, the Environmental Defense Fund and the Sierra Club, and none had any record of Trump’s environmental awards.
...

The Pinocchio Test

The evidence is quite slim for Trump’s claim that he has “received awards on the environment.” We know of one award by the Metropolitan Golf Association, given in 2007 to his golf course in Bedminster, N.J. The golf course was later cited for environmental violations.

The White House pointed us to a self-published book by Trump’s former environmental consultant. The only award mentioned in that book was from New Jersey Audubon — but the group denied it ever gave an award to Trump, the Trump National club in Bedminster or any of its employees.

Here is one award that we’ll give to Trump. It’s not related to the environment — and he already has many of them — but we present Trump with his first four-Pinocchio rating as president...

Trump doesn't think he's lying. I think he believes he has received "many many" environmental awards. Trump seems to believe what he says, even when it changes and contradicts itself. He believes it at the time. He believes that he creates reality as he speaks.

Gawd. The media merely reported the facts. If facts can delegitimize Trump then it seems clear we've made a yuuge mistake.

Once the facts were known and understood...they didn't double down, they changed their assertion. Are you intentionally trying to be dishonest here?

BTW, is IronWing lying or not? Why or why not?
You're the one being dishonest. They only changed their tune when when it was utterly obvious that their bullshit wouldn't fly. They obviously haven't disavowed Donald's claim that 1-1.5M people were in attendance. He pulled that number right out of his ass.

Trump has had his fill of the media who was clearly in cahoots with Clinton. This and the MLK bust "facts" probably put him over the edge. It's now become quite obvious that he's not going to be one to avoid a fight with the media like Bush did. The score is 1-1 imo. More fun to come.

They sure as hell changed their tune when the facts came to light...you're either incredibly dishonest or live under a rock. So, which is it?
