My friend showed it to me a few years back and I couldn't believe my eyes, but now I am talking to another friend (hardcore religious zealot) and he doesn't believe me.

Anyone have any idea?

You have come to the wrong forum. Can anyone recommend a Christian forum for this guy?

this is "OFF TOPIC". That means anything that is not covered in the other topics. But please, feel free.

I am not saying people should not discuss religion here. But I am sure he will get the answer to his original question seeking from another forum.

doesn't it say in the 10 commandments that you should have no other gods before the christian God? i would assume that breaking that commandment along with not accepting jesus as your savior would be grounds for going to hell.

That was written in the Old Testament, before they knew about Jesus. The Jewish believe that commandment too, and don't believe in Jesus.

However, in John 14:6, it says, "Jesus answered 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Which means, to get to God, you have to believe in Jesus (be a Christian).

Hee, hee, The Trinityis God and Jesus is part of the Trinity, therefore Jesus is God. You don't have to believe in Jesus to enter Heaven or meet God, you only have to believe in God.

I was just about to post that phrase, but I couldn't remember it's chapter and verse.

I would have to agree with rob9874 on this. Some more helpful verses could possibly be found in my sig. Just click on "I KNOW" and follow the links. I believe that it's on the third page. GL in your search.

If you have ever read and contemplated the New and Old Testaments it does. ;)

Well...the Trinity is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit...right?

Fumbduck, your question is extremely ambiguous. Perhaps it's why this so-called religious zealot doubts you. It is not that he does not believe the Bible alludes to that statement, but that the Bible does not explicitly say that. Your Bible quote for example is subject to interpretation if you are saying it's equivalent to your argument with your friend.

The Bible--in many verses--speaks of idolators (synonymous with heathens) going to hell. Then there are verses that say in order to be saved, you must accept Jesus. And in order to make it into the kingdom of God, you must be saved. There's another where Jesus says that not everyone who says "Lord, Lord" shall make it into the kingdom of heaven; except those that do the will of his Father.

In other words, you seem to be looking for a specific wording, but I doubt you'll find it. If you don't find an exact word or phrase, then it's subject to interpretation. I suspect it is what your supposedly religious zealot friend was trying to say.

Happy Puppy, not all Christians believe in the Trinity . . . well, I guess the mainstream followers have managed to call those who do not believe in the Trinity-- but do believe that Jesus is the son of God--ungodly. LOL!
