I am atheist, I do not believe in god, nor do I post this "crap" here. It is just a quick reference question, if you can help, cool thanks, if not, please don't be an asshole.

when you say "hardcore religious zealot" what do you mean by that?

By definition, shouldn't a hardcore religious zealot know the bible backwards and forwards?

I'm Christian and I know the bible a little bit and I don't actually recall that being in there. I'm sure there's a couple passages vaguely alluding to something resembling that fact but I'm pretty sure it doesn't say it outright.

Isn't it something more intimated rather than specific? Essentially, all those that don't follow/believe in Christ will not experience everlasting life in Heaven?

Right, that's what I said. He didn't believe me that it was in there because he knew the bible inside and out. I remember it being very clear on what it said, it wasn't vague or anything, that is why I was so stunned.

as for nick1985, don't post in my threads, if people want to argue, let them... this is off topic. You don't decide what is crap and what isn't. If the mods want to lock the thread, I am perfectly fine with that.

Something like that; but just as hardcore bible-thumping morons give us Christians a bad name and spout such nonsense like "OMG U HEATHEN GO TO HELL", you'll get overcritical vehement atheists that engage in the same amount of exaggeration and "reverse-proselytizing" that freak out about every errancy in the book. Whatever.

Isn't it the part about worshipping idols (idolatry)? I'm no biblical scholar, so I can't quote chapter and verse. Is it in the Ten Commandments?

Merry X-Mas!

edit: Obviously, none of us here are good Christians :p

It's the frickin' FIRST of the TEN COMMANDMENTS!
I AM THE LORD THY GOD, THOU SHALT NOT HAVE strange gods BEFORE ME.

do you remember some of the words from the verse? a concordance or Bible website would be able to find it.

I am not a bible thumper nor an overcritical atheist. My friend (whom is hardcore religious, omg atheists can be friends with zealots :Q) just doesn't believe me.

^^^^ Not saying you are. Your friend is a moron though.

Edit: That quote could be it, though I think I recalled it worded differently referring to individuals going to Heaven. It's probably reiterated at several points in the bible.

Uh huh... and what exactly are you trying to prove to your friend again? That there is a verse in the Bible that confirms everything else the Bible says (that unrepentant sinners go to hell)? I'm missing something here.

he did not believe me that there it was written that people of other religions, non christian, go to hell. And since he said he knew the bible inside out, I just wanted to find it so I wasn't deemed a liar.

doesn't it say in the 10 commandments that you should have no other gods before the christian God? i would assume that breaking that commandment along with not accepting jesus as your savior would be grounds for going to hell.

Anyone have any idea?

You have come to the wrong forum. Can anyone recommend a Christian forum for this guy?

Wait... does he believe that non-Christians will go to heaven, or does he just believe it is implied, not explicitly stated. If he's a hardcore Christian, I can't imagine it would be the former, and I can't imagine why anyone would argue over the latter. Except mayeb nick1985, he seems to be in the mood to start an idiotic argument. :)

That was written in the Old Testament, before they knew about Jesus. The Jewish believe that commandment too, and don't believe in Jesus.

However, in John 14:6, it says, "Jesus answered 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" Which means, to get to God, you have to believe in Jesus (be a Christian).
