I'm ranting about it being a general term that people use to refer themselves and the people that aren't but are ASIAN. If you are from Asia south of the Himalaya Mountains and the islands of the Malay Archipelago, then by all means call yourself Oriental. :|

So what was it like growing up in an Oriental family?

Are you Chinese, or Japanese?

No we aren't understanding you. What in particular are you trying to teach us? Please be very clear and with examples. Your anger hides your true meaning and thus we don't understand your post.

Try writing something like this:

Oriental is a term related to locations, things, and people. There are oriental countries, oriental objects, and oriental races. Of course you have to be from the oriental contries to be oriental. For example, people in Russia are Asian, but are not oriental since they are not from the oriental countries. So thus, asian is different than oriental.

It would be correct, but you look like a moron by saying so. It seems that it would be more appropriate to say, I'm North American, or American, etc.

Well it was a rant, so it disqualifies any sense of grammar or proper explanation.

Thanks Dullard for making it more clear. :)

Wouldn't it be better to say that oriental is a subset of asian? :p

I suppose that is a good way of stating it.

If by appropriate you mean more specific. It's hardly moronic to use a general (but factual) term to describe something/someone.
