Not much at all. The only difference between my Premier 750mp and the Pioneer 7500mp is my Premier has higher voltage RCAs and a 2 year warentee.

They probably have gold-plated RCA jacks and a few extra software features. "Better components" as well.

Damn. I ordered the Pioneer DEH-P9600MP a few minutes ago and now I am cancelling it. I am going to get a newer car after college and I dont wanna blow $400 on a headunit. My current headunit is broke so I'm just gonna get a $100 stereo so the next owner won't try knocking off $$$ from the sale price. I'll get a DVD Navigation unit for my new car. Thanks for all the advice people.

It depends if you have a separate amp or not, and how sensitive your speakers are. If you don't have a separate amp, you may actually do better with the Panasonic digital one, surprisingly enough.

Interesting point. I did all my comparisons using the HU's built-in amp as that's the setup I'll be running. I should have done some testing using an amp as well. Maybe if I'm bored one day......

Yeah, I'm going to need to pick up a head unit and two 6.5" coax's. To keep the car as light as possible, I'm avoiding putting in an amp. Even with reasonably sensitive speakers, you still need a little juice to get them to sound reasonably good.

I'll probably end up with the Panasonic CQ-C9800U (60w per channel x 4 channels, RMS, 70w/chan max, class T digital amp) headunit, which is barely enough to drive some of these power hungry speakers these days. For the 6.5", I'll probably end up with some Morel Integra R-6, if my door is deep enough.

Nope, they aren't gold plated if I remember correctly and my headunit doesn't have any extra software features. 🙁

I have the CDA-9827. Great sound quality, I love the MX bass engine. Reads any disc I throw at it. Only downside is, it's not a dot matrix display. But you pay premium for that on the higher level Alpine decks.

Eclipse > all, except Denon.

Eclipse prices have dropped drastically, there very competitive to most other brands. And seeing as thats the case, I'd say Pioneer is a hunk of shyte next to an Eclipse. Granted, Pioneer makes good decks. Dont get me wrong. But next to an Eclipse its just no comparison.
In addition, a theft warrenty is a sweet deal.

What are some sites (other than Crutchfield  expensive piece of shiet) that sell Eclipse headunits? When I search for Eclipse Audio, all I get is reviews.

I dont think you can get Eclipse headunits online. Eclipse is VERY careful with that due to the theft warrenty offer. But B&M stores carry them, they have decent prices and usually will negotiate.

That's weak sauce. At least Kenwood's Excelon line carries some extra features and the like. I'll admit I overpaid for mine but I've been happy with it. We're starting our 5th year together😛
