Not looking to anger anybody, just stating my case and hope that it is at least considered. I know other members have mentioned that they would like this kind of feature as well.
Currently having two accounts in AT forums is not allowed. There are reasons for this such as avoiding cluttering the servers with too much data and things like possible scamming in forums like buying/selling.
But Anand and many moderators have mentioned that they at least consider user's request, because it is after all our forum, we should have a say in how we want it to be run/designed.
I think the moderators do a fine job and do so out of their own time without pay, and I hate to ask something that would cause more work.
Many of my friends and family know that I use this forum for lots of my computer related information. Often when a friend/family member needs help with their computer and I don't know the answer, I ask people on here, and show them what people have replied.
The people at AT L&R (and AT forums in general) are pretty good at giving genuine advice and helping in many situations as I do for others as well. But I sometimes refrain from asking for relationship related advice on the forum because I don't like sharing all my issues with the people closest to me all the time, sometimes I just want to let off steam that if others knew they would be hurt.
The L&R section is already locked to anyone who is not a member, and this is good, but if someone was snooping they would just have to sign up. I know it's a bit paranoid, but I value my privacy.
But could something possibly be set up, specifically only for L&R, that a user can be given a second user name, or be allowed to post under the same account except that when it's in L&R forum, they be allowed to choose an option where the name shows up as "anonymous". Which ever is simplest to implement and run basically.
I could go to another forum for relationship issues, a relationship specific site even, as opposed to a technology specific site, but I relate a lot more to many of the users at AT forums. Why? Besides the fact that we all like technology, a lot of us are all like minded in a lot of other ways, and of a maturity and intellectual level that we respect. Not always the case in other types of forums.
That is my case, Thanks for hearing me out.
