so really it's the STYLE and not the ownership that's important?

M6, u mean referring to Mazda 6?

I'm an owner of one. Why does ownership matter when the vehicle speaks for itself in terms of a great value sporty sedan?

*car of the year runner up by edmunds.com
*great reliability of Mazda regardless of who owns it above.

no relationship whatsoever, i was just thinking of the guy that wrote "but it's still just a ford" when discussions of GT40 were rampant.

and then i saw the Aston Martin thread and it got me to thinking of other companies owned by Ford. hence the thread.

Ford owns Lincoln, Volvo, Jaguar, Mercury, Land Rover too

Daimler-Chrysler owns a ton

GM/Pontiac/Chevrolet has a bunch

Its like pop. There is coke and there is pepsi. Many "other" drinks are owned by one of those two. They each have their own bottled water name brands too. I'm a coke faithful (for colas) but love dr pepper.

Chevrolet was started by a Frenchman. You don't see those "freedom" Americans boycotting their Chevrolets do you? :p Who gives a fsck.

It's not like the 6 is equivalent to a Taurus or something.

Not even the same league!

Hell I would buy one if ford owned 100% (as long as it was manufactured in Japan)

Mazda 3 is built in Japan.

The Mazda 6 is build in Detroit.

Mazda 3 > Mazda 6 :)

(Even looking at the two, the 3 looks far more solid and substantial.)

Ford owns controlling interest in Mazda, but Mazda is still fairly independent.

That said the Mazda 6 is built in the same Ford plant as the '05 Mustang is being built in.

You know that the V6 in the 6 is just a re-designed Durotec pulled from the Taurus, right? ;)
And that the 6 is built in a Ford plant right here in the USofA?

I think you're mixing them up. The B2000 is built in Ford plants.

isn't the mazda SUV also just a ford rebadged?

Yep the Mazda Tribute is a rebadged Ford Escape, Id actually take the Ford Escape over the Mazda version.
