Ford owns 33% of Mazda.

i believe ford now owns a majority share. they did own 33% but they bought back the dearborn plant from mazda and they bought more mazda stock (that was like 7 yrs ago i believe) and currently own a majority share of mazda.
That is entirely incorrect. Since the early 90's (I forget the exact year) to present, Ford has owned 33% of Mazda. Prior to that, it was only 25%.

actually the plant is largely under mazda's control. part of the reason ford is using that plant for the mustang is that they have better quality control there.

the escape is a rebadged tribute, not the other way around. designed and engineered by mazda.

and yes, the V6 in the 6 is a massaged duratec. which used to be a very good engine but there hasn't been much r&d work in it lately (at least, not compared to honda, toyota, and nissans V6s)

Mazda 3 > Mazda 6 :)

(Even looking at the two, the 3 looks far more solid and substantial.)

So you're telling me we don't even trust US built products anymore? Jesus christ.

Americans are consumers not manufacturers.

And some Americans are workers in car factories...
