Update 8/6:
Well our business filer came back saying the name is taken. Hence our label design has to change, hence our shipment is delayed...Jeans itself will be ready this month, but the label stitching will be delayed until we get a new one.

Anyone have any new ideas? Partners prefer Italian/French themed name.

BTW we already have a large customer lined up. Some chain retailer in the midwest.

?? They do the label stitching *after* they make the jeans? I'd have thought it would be simpler and more efficient to do the label stitching on the pocket before the pocket is stitched onto the rest of the jeans.

But before we order we need a good name for the label!

So, they're almost ready, but you can't order them before you have a name?

Well, although you seem to contradict yourself a bit in this thread, I really do wish you the best of luck. How about "tushi" or "toochi" jeans?

Edit: since you've pretty much sold all of them, why does the name really matter that much? Between you and your partners, you've got a half million dollars tied up in this thing; I'd think you'd want to settle on a name much quicker. Oh, and regardless of the name you select, why not do a simple google search? Traffic Jeans turned up in quite a few hits. (Traffic Jeans Store or something like that) - that way, you can avoid the loss of time waiting for the filer to come back.

Sorry for implying we had to have a label name to order. We were debating whether to make the back pocket stitching related to the label name (i.e. make it look like the first letter of the label), but for the sake of getting the order in, we decided on a back pocket design that's pretty generic, knowing that the business filing could get rejected. We were taking too long on the label so we made decisions on styles before the label. One of the partners also has a sweatshop in LA to put a label on the jeans if it comes down to that.

FYI I did do a google search for Traffic and all I found was a clothing store in the UK (not even a brand).

For the obvious reason: long term viability through brand positioning.

Sorry for not updating the thread in such detail, but the $500k was the value of the inventory. They only require an initial cash deposit, and once we accepted and agreed on the samples they sent to us, we would send a Letter of Credit so they could start production of the order. Not that I thought you guys would care of such details.

I love how there are some ATOT people (and web community users in general) who scrutinize every little detail to try to find shens. I guess it's good though; saved W election from Dan Rather sabotage, and most recently caught Reuters faking Lebanon bomb photos.

Traffic is a high end clothing store in the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. They specialize in denim. Just a FYI. The market you'll cater to may know that and think your leeching off the name, in SoCal at least. How about SIN denim. Kinda edgy. Good luck!!

I've actually seen a label called Ciao. Avant-Garde is also a very common business name.
