As long as they aren't bothering me, I say let 'em do it.

It's not like they're right up in my face saying "I'M GAY!!!" So if they want to get married and live happily like the rest of us, I say go right ahead.

I'm not saying that it's right or wrong, but it's really not our place to decide for or against them.

Why shouldn't gay people have the right to be miserable and henpecked and be in dysfunctional marriages like the rest of straight society?

It's like a big "EF YOU" to the socially conservative crowd.

Which is exactly what they wanted.....IMHO the main reason they were not interested in a totally viable compromise (such as legally changing it for everyone gay and straight to union), they wanted to give the system the finger...oh well we will see how long it lasts. But then again anything that will put an end to those parades is always welcome.

Thing is, all of those marriage licenses are already invalid. The mayor doesn't have the authority to hand out licenses. That only comes from the State.

It's a great gesture on his part, though!

I love how the city government in SF is perfectly willing to break state law and not give a damn.

Sound like anarchy to you?

What I'm wondering is... what's the difference between this and the ten commandments in Alabama?

As are the Ten Commandments.

The Ten Commandments are a religious artifact. They have no place in public schools or government offices.
