All snowmen are abominable - Islam

“God has given people space to make whatever they want which does not have a soul..."

Snowmen have souls now? Did he think that "Frosty the snowman" was a documentary?

Is this a problem in Saudi?

They have mountains too, ya know.

So apparently it's not just haram to depict their prophet, but any human. I'd ask what the fuck is wrong with this guy, but I doubt I have time for a list of that size.

Well, in a society where men and women are so heavily segregated from each other, I suppose even snowmen could inspire lustful thoughts. But if that's the case, they should be banning goats and camels as well.

Munajjid, fielding questions on a religious website, replied that any representation of a man, including a snowman, violated the kingdom’s strict ban against figurative depictions of the human form.

So it would seem that any statue of a person would be in conflict.

How close does then one draw a picture and/or a carved headstone/coffin

Maybe it will develop into another target on which the U.S. can use/test drone missiles. And I'm in before the move to P&N.

Guess a couple going now, but really.

The all knowing clerics have interpreted it to be a just decision.

:colbert:

At least they aren't trying to kill anybody, that's already a sign of progressivism! 😀

Give em a day or two, someone will put an IED in a snowman or something.

The correct response to this would seem to be a snowman in the shape of Mohammed.

Saudi has it's own drones, aren't the Saudis a major ally of the US?
A pic of GW holding hands with some guy comes to mind 😉

Saudi Arabia is a US ally more out of convenience IMO. It's a good launch point for America's interests in the Middle East. The country is almost entirely reliant on an export economy, and the US buys a lot of that export, so there's mutual interest in keeping each other happy. The American government is willing to overlook their atrocious human rights record as a result. Just like it's willing to overlook China's.

They won the geopolitical lottery when they discovered all that black goop they were sitting on was actually worth something. Prior to WWI, it was little more than a backwater of the Ottoman Empire. It was born a tribal state and will likely revert to a tribal state once the oil stops flowing.
