Don't give me that crap. The Jays "bought" players too back in the 90's when they were winning championships. Joe Carter, Robbie Alomar, Paul Molitor, etc etc. From what I can remember there were only 1 or 2 guys brought up from their farm system on those teams (Olerud).
Honestly if you guys actually went out and supported your team it would be different. Have you looked at how many people attend Yankee games? They average over 50,000 people per game and have the best home and ROAD attendance in the MLB.
Also, its like the Jay's management doesn't even care about the team any more. The Skydome used to be a jewel of a stadium. Now its a dump. There are banners of players plastered around the stadium that aren't even on the team anymore (Ryan, Rios). These are full sized like 30 foot posters - ya think after they were traded/released someone would take em down??
It also doesn't help that they spent a fortune on players like Rios and Wells and they have underperformed.
Edit: Just did a check and the Yanks are not #1 in home and road....they are #2. They also have been averaging 46,000 people per home game not 50,000. From 2005-2008 they had over 4,000,000 fans attend games while this year they are slightly down to 3,600,000 I guess you can figure that because of the new stadium's ticket prices, the economy and the fact they have 4 more home games left.
