This is my first post, please be kind. Looks like Dell has started offering their branded printers.

Dell Printers are Lexmarks

The real question is, "Can I get cartridges from anyone other than Dell?".
The money in printers is all in the refills. Lexmark has some of the most
expensive refills around.
I would not even consider purchasing one of these if the refills are going to be
much more expensive then the generic replacements I can get for Canons or Epsons.
where do you get your refills from? Megatoners?Originally posted by: longhorn

From the review posted above, it appears that only Dell cartridges will
work, not Lexmark, and that I must get the refills from Dell. Dell wants
$30 for the black cartridge, and $35 for the color.
No thanks. My Epson 880 still works fine, and I get refills for about $3 each.

The word is that the cartridges will be "comparably priced" with the competition. Dell is shooting for convenience, though, because the software will monitor the ink/toner levels and when it gets close enough to empty it will offer you a link to order more. Clicking the order button will send your info directly to Dell's order processing complete with the model number of the printer so there's no having to deal with figuring out which ink/toner to order. Then Dell will ship it to you and include a pre-paid mailer to send back the emtpy.
I don't think HP has anything to worry about.![]()
Dells are Lexmarks. Lexmark is part of IBM. IBM vs. HP? Interesting.

I get refills on EBAY. There are several reputable sellers that have feedback in the thousands.
You have to watch the shipping costs, but if you buy 3 at a time (like I do), the shipping is
much more reasonable.

I like lexmark printers, but in all fairness, i've never had a lexmark inkjet -- i use a Lexmark Optra R+ laser at home.
