I think our genetics (correctly, from an evolutionary perspective) make us respond to threats and negativity far more than positive ones. After all when it’s life and death one mistake is the end of it.

I think liberalism faces an uphill battle because people are fundamentally distrustful of the idea that life can ever be better despite ample evidence to the contrary.

Something I also should of added. When a flock of birds gets spooked and takes flight not all birds will join in. The ones left behind may avoid being captured mid-air by say a hawk. The ones that don't take flight will save vital calories and face less competition for a while on the ground allowing them to eat more. The theory goes that those who jump instantly from the frying pan, our conservative friends, may actually land in the fire. Also, a purely conservative society and it's fear of outsiders will lead to a potential fatal lack of genetic diversity so one job liberals supply to a society is the arrangement of tribal relations that allow for the exchange and integration of brides and grooms. Liberals have always been making life better for conservatives. Conservatives would go extinct without us. Don't tell them, If they could see they might die of guilt.

He gave a specific example which was pretty stupid imo. She mentioned at one point she grew up eating collard greens and some Punjabi dish, Peters said she was stupid because her mom is South Indian and her dad is Jamaican so they wouldn't have made those dishes. Of course they definitely could have made those dishes, it's not like people are confined to eating food from where they're originally from. It also doesn't come close to the stupid shit that trump says like injecting bleach or the choice of being electrocuted or eaten by sharks or how he "HAS NO COGNITIVE."
