Well, I've been hearing great things about this NIC, its the Dell True Mobil 1150, which is a rebranded Orinoco Gold card.. and I thought this was a pretty good deal.. Free shipping and 15% off from Dell .. so it came to $58.65 after the 15% off.

Edit: If anyone has an extra $100 off coupon, I could really use it.. PM or gizmo@gizmo-x.com thanks :)

Edit #2: 15% off is over, its $70 again.

Edit #3: 15% is back on!!! Hurry and get them before its over again

Edit #4: Its back but use Dell Home now for free shipping!

Great card, I use it on my notebook. I'm going to pick up another to put in a pci adapter on a desktop. Thanks for the heads up!

Nice find. Already have a "Silver" and a "Gold". They are top notch cards. Had to use an external antenna on one to go from basement to second floor across the house. The external antenna provides quite a boost in performance & range.

how does this compare to say, a d-link dwl 650 (which, incidentally i bought for about the same price as this orinoco, but i'm inclined to think the orinoco is a better card) thanks.

Gotta love Dell's "we'll take care of our customer's policy"

If I spend $1700 on a laptop then I can get the network card for $99 otherwise I can buy it from them direct for near $50. You'd think they'd give you a DISCOUNT for buying it with a laptop. Anyway, if you buy it with the laptop then you might want to take a look at jokersmoker's KY Lube deal. :)

I just picked up a bunch of mini-pci wireless cards that I'll be selling for a small profit but my question to wireless users is...

Would you prefer a pcmcia wireless device or a mini-pci so? I would guess the mini-pci because it is integrated to the laptop and it doesn't protrude and/or take up the pcmcia slots.

I'd say PCMCIA, these wireless cards use up a lot of juice and w/ a PCMCIA card u can just take it out. Any I've already got an intel 10/100 mini-pci card in my laptop (IBM Thinkpad T-20).

hmm, just out of curiosity.. the mini-pci with 15% off is $85.. on ebay they seem to go for less than 85.. did you get it cheaper somehow?

I ordered a couple too, These cards are supposed to be the best by far.
I think they will continue to come down in price like the rest of the 802.11b cards are.
OM had a D-link Pcmcia for 40, but I would rather have the Orinoco for $20.

Cool! These work with the IBM Workpad z50 (Handheld PC) too, according to Wincecity. I need two but having little experience I only ordered one. I'm sure they'll have another sale again and this is a great deal.

They have the Linksys card for $47.79 + tax under the same 15% off special (with $10 linksys rebate).

Is this Orinco card better than the Linksys?

Personally I would pay the extra $10 and get the Orinoco, I think its a better card and no rebate to deal with.

These were 55.20 shipped a few days ago.

Don't forget the extra 2% discount via eBates.

Thanks Gizmo -

After what you wrote, and what I saw on buy.com review site about the Linksys card I agree that the Orinco sounds better.

Sorry guys but I picked up every last one of them. They are no longer available. They went from 300 to 150 in about 2 days so I jumped on the remainder and the company won't be getting more in. Sorry.
