Aliens Colonial Marines gameplay footage.

Being a huge Aliens franchise geek I am actually excited to see this. There hasn't been a decent Aliens game since the old AVP2.

That game looks like it "could" be good. That said, it is very console-ish. The demo was pretty obviously on the console due to the way he was aiming. I just hope that the PC version comes through without a horrible console UI.

Did the guy just beat up an alien with the butt of his shotgun? And wasn't alien blood supposed to be deadly, how is he just walking over it without getting damage?

I love the franchise, but Aside from the Aliens vs Predator 2 PC game from Sierra I've been disappointed by every Aliens game.

I might be wrong, I'm not an expert of the Aliens universe, but what I do remember of it (at least I think it's correct information) is that Xenomorphs' blood is a very corrosive hydrosulphuric acid. It can literally corrode/eat through metallic surfaces, as shown in Alien Resurrection when two Xenomorphs escape by killing another Alien so that his acid would eat through the floor of the cell they were in (and that's just one example of many throughout the series).

It should cause real lethal damage on human tissue, surely, but it depends on what part(s) of the body it affects. It might have been something that the developers overlooked. But let's remember one thing, Aliens Colonial Marines is not a simulation of the Aliens' universe that is supposed to turn the pseudo-science into game-play mechanics, it's an action game and such details as the Aliens' blood/acid not affecting the player directly or significantly should be taken with a grain of salt, in my opinion.

And it's still early in the game. They did mention in the trailer not to step in the blood. I also was wondering if people in the game took damage from blood spray. It is a rather large part of the storyline so they can't just overlook it, but I am guessing it is less potent in the actual game.

I totally agree,.. that game kicked ass!! Every game since has been a dissapointment. This one Ill put on my goozex.

I found AvP2 to be decent but not great. AvP Classic was the best of the series in my opinion. It could be because my PC was a powerhouse then and had the graphics cranked up to full, plus a nice 5.1 surround sound system to scare myself witless at night 🙂

Also, if this game does not include Predators then I can only see that being a good thing.

I am guessing it will be very scripted (lots of cut scenes of teammates being taken) that you can't do anything about, and very linear. I also predict you'll be the only one left at the end that escapes, and that you're a woman, but you don't find that out until the end.

I loved AvP3 so I’m looking forward to this. It’s a shame you can’t play as the Predator though, that was the best character in AvP3.

What is missing is the part where you die and have to redo the damn scripted parts over and over again, totally breaking the immersion created by scripted events.

having trouble suspending disbelief about the atmo processor exploding and the buildings being only slightly damaged...

i just hope they dont mess it up..

*crosses my fingers*

But.... man... its not looking good from where im sitting compared to whats soon to be released, it looks too much like Lost Planet 2.

Hicks gets sprayed with alien blood towards the end of Aliens. He doesn't die (till the beginning of Alien 3). So it is possible. Although Drake gets sprayed after shot-gunning an alien in the face and he definitely dies, so...?

Kinda dont like the idea of them creating Alien breeds. Alien 4 went off the rails with that stupid hybrid. One regular can be deadly enough, let alone an entire colony, without new alien breeds like this crusher. Also seems a little too scripted. I wonder if its one of those Black Ops situations where the player doesnt actually have to do anything to advance.

Sure do hope this is better. The last installment is still sitting in my Steam library unfinished after getting on it for an hour.
