Kinda dont like the idea of them creating Alien breeds. Alien 4 went off the rails with that stupid hybrid. One regular can be deadly enough, let alone an entire colony, without new alien breeds like this crusher. Also seems a little too scripted. I wonder if its one of those Black Ops situations where the player doesnt actually have to do anything to advance.

OK, I'm not sure how familiar with the lore you are, but there are many alien breeds based on the lifeform they infect. In fact, in Prometheus (the new "prequel") you will see the aliens as what they were before introduced to humans. Point being different breeds of aliens is entirely possible simply because of the storyline.

The problem with this storyline I have is a few things:

Like someone else said, they nuked that site, it wasn't THAT far from the reactors to have survived. Secondly, the queen was in space. As far as we know, there were no other humans on the planet to breed a new queen., let alone a whole bunch more aliens.

There are plenty of optional scenarios that could lead to this, but my guess is they are just taking artistic liberties so they can create a game with some variation.

I do think this will be VERY scripted...but I think that's ok if it's got a decent script. I don't have alot of faith these days though.

PS. This is not AVP. There are no predators.

Now after having watched the video, I have the following observations.

In the first place, it looks good. Although since the commentator had this big thing about attention to detail, I have to observe that all of the face huggers in Medlab were dead (the last two being killed by Hudson and Hicks while trying to infect Ripley and Neut), so why were some of them still alive in the game?

Also, I have grave reservations about the fact that the Atmosphere Processor went nuclear. There Shouldn't be anything left of Hadley's hope. And why is the Sulaco still in orbit? Shouldn't it be on it's way to that prison planet from Alien 3?

Ok, geek alert over.

But on a serious note, it looks like it will be an adequate FPS. Which means limited and poor half tacked on single player campaign. But lots of MP modes (ugh!!!). But what does it offer to distinguish itself from the 500 other FPS games out there?

I've been anticipating this game since it was announced.

In theory, it sounds like the perfect game: a squad-based shooter with real tactics, great story and atmosphere, in the Aliens universe.

That said, there's A LOT of ways they could screw it up, so I'm not quite getting my hopes up yet.

That game looks like it "could" be good. That said, it is very console-ish. The demo was pretty obviously on the console due to the way he was aiming. I just hope that the PC version comes through without a horrible console UI.

Definitively a controller I also didn't like that the game told you where to put the sentry gun, you should be able to put them anywhere like in Half life 2, even take them with you through the level. No scopes, no acid blood, loved the mother alien though... I wouldn't get excited at this 90% of being another crappy console port.

I can't stand watching console play, it's so mechanical and slow. These companies need pro gamers to demo their games on PC, not some slow console developer.

You know, I think I figured out why they do that now though. Too many times in the past the PC would crash during a demo (for whatever reason, it still looks bad). I think with consoles they have a much lower chance of that happening :) lol

I just watch the movies, but it seems stupid to me that there are new breeds of aliens on the same place that was in Aliens, and in that movie there were no other breeds. Just seems a little contrived, but when I was going to cite examples I came across AvP Requiem where the Alien in that movie was a hybrid based on a Predator. So whatever!

This would seems like a good coop game, but it may be too scripted for that.

It was actually established in Aliens (the movie) that there were different types of aliens because they were a hive like ants. Thus the introduction of the queen and worker aliens. Thus the smasher ones really aren't that big of a stretch. Now..if they were saying they were from another lifeform, that would be a stretch since as far as we know, there were no other live lifeforms on that planet.

Alien 3 was a dog alien in case you didn't know. In fact every movie has introduced a new alien :) Yes..i'm a geek lol

Yeah, the more I think about it there are all kinds of specialized aliens. Like the Queen that lays eggs which hatches facehuggers, which implant animals, which spawn drones. And I vaguely remember something different about the Alien 3 alien. Maybe the smasher came from the spaceship where they found the aliens. I dunno, but I guess its reasonable enough.

Yeah I think the Aliens change depending on whose DNA they share at least that's what the avp movie insinuated with the alien/predator hybrid.

well ignoring all the facts of the movies that i love i will always buy the new alien game because it keeps them making aliens games, with that said eventually one will come and blow our minds
