Alien vs. Predator Requiem - kind of disappointing

i saw this last night.

i thought it was awesome and was what the first one should have been. it was just the predator trying to kill the aliens for killing his friend, and when the humans got in the way, the predator wouldn't hesitate to take em out.

definitely 90 minutes full of entertainment.

i do however wish it was gorier 😀

EDIT:

wow some of you guys are picky as shit and can't enjoy a movie for sheer entertainment. did you guys really expect AVP to be up for academy awards?

I was disappointed, too, even going into the movie with low expectations. It was too limited in scope (too few Preds, idiotic humans), and some of the logical flaws were just annoying. I was also somewhat incensed by the incessant homages to the previous movies -- (SPOILER START)the new "Ripley" substitute, the almost carbon copy scene of driving the APC and yelling "Hang on", etc. Come on, a few references are fine, but the entire freaking movie??

Plus, what supposed soldier would grab an assault rifle and not also grab some ammunition? You know, Neo-Ripley, those magazines come out and are replaceable with new ones, right? Also, she knows how to drive a Stryker and pilot a helo? Hmm, must be an interesting career field that also allows her to take home very expensive night vision gear so that her daughter can play with it.

Ok, done ranting. I hate movies without common sense!

To its credit, some of the kills were great -- I loved the little chicky getting pinned to the wall, though it's a shame to see someone that attractive get killed. 😉

No offense but it isn't that we are picky, you are easily amused!

Like Sqube said, you never even get a decent look at the alien/preditor through the whole movie and the fight scene at the end was weak at best...I always laugh when the predator is shooting his little lasers from his shoulder...

The targeting system is like something from the Atari 2600 (Slow as Hell)...and inaccurate...
the scene where he knocks out the power it isn't like he is shooting at a cheetah

plus the acting...I wasn't looking for an academy award but toss me a bone...

no real plot and Susie "Super Solider" who can do it all (fly a chopper, drive a tank, weapons specialist...) The "I am an Army of One" was a nice touch...

let`s not forget the drums from the original predator, the "get to the chopper",the marines fight etc.what a shitty compilation, totally unimaginative, a farce.:frown:

I thought it was great. It was exactly what I expected from such a movie concept (unlike the first one). Gratuitous killing and no mercy for anyone.

I enjoyed it as a fan. I had read the reviews, warned my girlfriend that it would be horrible, invited her to watch Sweeney Todd, but in the end she sat with me through AvPR. She absolutely hated AvPR and said that she's rather watch a Beast Master marathon on the SciFi channel rather than the drivel she had just sat through.

But I'm a fan of the genre and thoroughly enjoyed myself.

Question: Why does the supporting male character with the best blond hair always have to be the a$$hole boyfriend? He gets jealous, gathers a couple of friends and commences to have a gang beat-down on the 'nice' character in front of the girlfriend. Wasn't that plot finished with the Karate Kid franchise? Wait. AvPvKK tie in?

leeland, nice surmising of the plot.

It's not worth the 5 bucks I paid for.

Movies here are $8 for matinee 🙁

That being said, take that money and watch Juno instead imo.

$5.75 here for the cheapest ticket. I am planning to watch it this weekend. I am a fan of both franchises.

Save yourself while you still can. You don't get to unsee this movie. Unless, of course, your standards for movie quality are equivalent to those of Gooberlx2 (no offense intended).

I just returned from seeing this movie.

People complained when Alien 4 came out. They complained some more about Alien vs. Predator for being PG-13.

However, nothing could be as atrocious as this movie. It has nothing in common with any prior Alien or Predator film. The sci-fi thriller pacing of the originals is nowhere to be seen. This movie is basically a 1980's teenage, small-town in the woods, slasher film with aliens and predators thrown in. It even starts off with an evil jock beating up a skinny guy at the start of the film. Hell, if you put some hockey masks on those aliens, audiences would have a hard time telling it apart from one of the Jason films.
