\m/ -_- \m/

Anyone else catch this show yet? I'm pretty geeked... I like a lot of the new VR album and from what I've heard, they play a bit of STP and GNR too. Alice In Chains' singer is supposed to be decent too. w00t!

I've heard nothing but great things about the singer for AIC. I'd pay just to see them. I really couldn't care less about Velvet Revolver.

I'm not a big fan of bands I used to like who replaced the lead singer but play under the same name.

Layne made that band.

I like the cast of VR, but that frontman bugs me. I think it's the way he uh sways on stage...like his legs are having a seizure.

VR got crappy reviews and AIC got rave reviews for their show at Mohegun Sun.

Have fun, Melty!

layne didn't make the band. he was 1 part of a 2 part harmony. if he did all the song writing and all the singing it'd be different, but he didn't.

The show was good. AIC played for what seemed like a very short time though. The played a lot of their old harder stuff from Dirt like Rain When I Die and Rooster. There were a couple of nice surprises, like Nutshell. I didn't think they would play anything from Jar of Flies. sweet!

VR was really good, mixing it up between their new stuff, STP and GNR. They rocked Sex Type Thing and did an acoustic set for Patience. They jammed Mr. Brownstone and It's So Easy too.... all in all a great rock show! I can't remember the exact set list but if I find it, I'll post it up

Saw AIC in Milwaukee a few months ago solo.. the new singer was pretty decent but he's no Layne of course.

Jerry had his whole zaak wilde look going on again and he still shreds.

sigh... :brokenheart: layne

I disagree. His sound was unique and it's what made AiC special. Of course having awesome material didn't hurt.

ThePresence took the words right out of my mouth. He may have been 1 part of a 2 part harmony, but his sound was much more distinct and profound.

Sorta like INXS. Never a hugely favorite band of mine, but I actually bought one of their albums back in the day (something I rarely admit to). I liked the "sound" of them and 80% of that is attributed to the lead singers sound.

To replace him totally changes the dynamic, it's just not the same. Therefore I feel they are no longer INXS.

It's all a matter of opinion, you seem to think yours is right. I seem to think it wrong.

I'm a huge AIC fan. In fact my original user name was Staley8 after Layne Staley. That being said, the new AIC isn't really AIC. It's 3/4 of AIC playing AIC songs with a new singer. I will see them if they come around though. Jerry had a great voice too, but Layne was the face and voice of that band. R.I.P. Layne.

i miss layne just like anyone who loved aic, but to dismiss the band and say they should tour under a different name is just silly to me.

I wouldnt mind seeing that show. AIC is always great, sure, a little different without Layne, but still good. I really want to like VR, I really do, but for some reason I can't. I was a big fan of GNR and STP so in theory I should be a big fan of VR, but I'm not. It seems to me that they play weak ass rock music that sucks like most of the other crap out there. It's a shame because they really have a whole lot of talent and potential there, but it's not being utilized for some reason.
