I don't think anyone would ever sound exactly like Layne did - and I'm not saying that in a complimentary way - more of a nod to his uniqueness as a frontman... but yeah, the new guy sounds great, especially on the older, harder AIC like Man In The Box, Rooster, Would, Rain When I Die, etc. It is kinda funky to see a bro with a fro rocking the mic for AIC but he rocks!!!

marked for home so I can listen to the new AIC singer. I loved everything that AIC did, and alot of that is because of the harmonization between Layne and Jerry Cantrell (and Jerry wrote alot of the songs), but still Layne laid down the tone of the tracks with that voice.

The show was good. AIC played for what seemed like a very short time though. The played a lot of their old harder stuff from Dirt like Rain When I Die and Rooster. There were a couple of nice surprises, like Nutshell. I didn't think they would play anything from Jar of Flies. sweet!

VR was really good, mixing it up between their new stuff, STP and GNR. They rocked Sex Type Thing and did an acoustic set for Patience. They jammed Mr. Brownstone and It's So Easy too.... all in all a great rock show! I can't remember the exact set list but if I find it, I'll post it up

hehe I used to live right next to the inspiration for Mr. Brownstone :D

You lived next door to Heroin? That makes no sense.

In lafayette (axl's hometown) there is an apartment complex called Brownstone apartments. His dealer lived there, I lived right down the road from it when I went to college at Purdue. I actually had a few friends who lived in that complex.

That's sweet and all, but Axl didn't write the song.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Brownstone

"The song's lyrics were written by Izzy Stradlin, while the music was composed by Izzy and Slash. The song is about the effects of heroin, for which "brownstone" is a slang term."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroin
Additionally, the term 'brownstone' is one of many names for H. It's also called "brown" and "brown sugar".

Maybe they made that name up too because they lived next to a brown sugar factory? :)

In all honesty the song probably is in reference to a brownstone type apartment, but the slang probably originates from the color of the drug or the fact that it's sold out of brownstones in NYC? That's my best guess
