Did you just search "gun safety" or other related fields such as permit to carry, gun laws and regulations? Either way it's a subject I comment on when i feel like it.

"All the time" and "comment on when I feel like it" aren't the same thing. You must be using the same definition of "All the time" as all republicans trumpers do when referring to voter fraud.

Sure let's judge people by their looks.

Like it or not, a lot of employers do because they feel their employees represent their company to some extent even when not on the clock. Hence why it was all the rage in the last 10 years for employers to cyberstalk candidates. I can't say I agree or condone it, but I understand why they would do that.

This is what you get judging people by their looks.

I've seen in movies where spent brass falling to the ground have those crimped ends on them where a nice round hole should be, denoting blanks were being fired and I chuckle every time I see that thinking "well so much for realism". Meaning, blank rounds are so obvious that they can't be mistaken for live ones. That being said, whoever loaded a live round in place of a blank is either an imbecile or, somewhat more unbelievable intentionally loaded that round for some unknown reason.

Playing a prank comes to mind but who would be that much of a moron to do such a thing?

edit - sure would be nice to know the type and model # of the firearm that was used.
Could have been a pro-trumper in the set. After all, Alec Baldwin was the actor who impersonated Trump in SNL skits.

According to this article, Baldwin was practicing drawing the gun when it fired. If true, not a good thing for him even if he thought it was a cold gun.

Souza told them Baldwin was "sitting in a pew in a church building setting, and he was practicing a cross draw."

He lacks trigger discipline. A common theme in a lot of movies and shows. The most skilled law enforcement officer in film or TV loses credibility when they fail to practice trigger discipline.

Back when I went to the range all the time I would practice one handed draw and fire with both hands, meaning I'd cross draw with my left hand and I never failed to exhibit trigger discipline.

If it were anyone except a Trump fanatic, I'd think it would be a very remote possibility. However, as you've mentioned, Alec was making fun of Trump for so long, that must've pissed off his nutjob cult following every time he did it so I'd say the possibility of what you described happening is a whole lot more plausible.

It looks as if both the ATF and OSHA are looking into the shooting. Also Professor Turley looks into criminal charges against Baldwin.

"New Mexico has a provision that allows “involuntary manslaughter” charges for “the commission of a lawful act which might produce death in an unlawful manner or without due caution and circumspection.” If there was a pattern of neglect, including prior discharges from these prop weapons, the producers could be investigated and charged with involuntary manslaughter. Such a charge is a fourth-degree felony in New Mexico, with a penalty of 18 months jail time and up to $5,000 in fines.

The difficulty for criminal defense attorneys in dealing with such charges is that they do not require “specific intent.” Given prior deaths from prop guns (as with Brandon Lee in the movie “The Crow”), the danger of a fatal mistake was foreseeable. However, such charges are rare and unlikely in this case absent stronger evidence of knowledge or involvement by Baldwin in the preparation or handling of these props. "...............

Meh, no need for conspiracy theories here when plain incompetence will do it for you. Someone screwed up, and a woman is dead because of it.

If a fanatic had it in for Alec Baldwin, and had access to him with a loaded pistol, why would they rely on some elaborate plan to trick him into shooting someone else, that may not even work? Why would they not just, yknow, shoot him?

How about the possibility of an angry union member doing something to sabotage a scab production?

Don Jr is is selling shirts that say "guns don't kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people"

The Trumps appear to still be smarting from Baldwin’s popular, and highly-rated portrayal of Loser Donald on SNL. I guess it hit pretty close to the mark. Jr is just an excrescence to his shit-stain father.

There’s a well known story about his dad showing up to his college dorm to take him to a baseball game. Junior was wearing a jersey, and when the old man saw it, he punched him in the face and told him to put on a suit.

Donnie Junior just wants Daddy’s love. Like Ivanka gets. If just for one day.

Sure, it could have been a whole lot of other reasons as well. I was responding to a specific possible cause that in my mind didn't exclude any other possible motive or irresponsible act that may have occurred. A Trump fanatic like the hundreds that were part of the 1/6 insurrection where they committed numerous heinous acts of assault on our LEOs seems to fit right in with the thousands upon thousands of them that are out there looking to get even with anyone for insulting Trump, especially a popular celebrity like Alec and his dissing their Chosen One time and again that humiliated Trump with comedy skits that actually had a lot of truth in them to boot.

"I was holding her in my arms while she was dying. Her blood was on my hands," Svetnoy wrote in his post, which was also penned in Russian. "I want to tell my opinion on why this has happened. I think I have the right to do it. It's the fault of negligence and unprofessionalism."

"The negligence from the person who was supposed to check the weapon on the site did not do this; the person who had to announce that the loaded gun was on the site did not do this," Sveynoy claimed. "The person who should have checked this weapon before bringing it to the set did not do it."

The crew member goes on to slam the producers of the film for not having "professionals" working on set. "Professionals are the people who have spent years on sets, people who know this job from A to Z; These are the people who have the safety on set at the level of reflexes; they do not need to be told to put the sandbag on a tripod, fix the ladder on the stage, or fence off the explosion site," he insisted in his post. "They have it in their blood."

"I'm calling out to the producers! We have a fascinating and amazing job, but it's also dangerous. We film in the mountains, in the open water, underwater. We have explosions, shooting guns, car crashes, electricity after all, and much more. To save a dime sometimes, you hire people who are not fully qualified for the complicated and dangerous job, and you risk the lives of the other people who are close and your lives as well," Svetnoy continued. "I understand that you always fight for the budget, but you cannot allow this to happen. There should always be at least one professional in each department who knows the job. It is an absolute must to avoid such a tragedy, like the tragedy with Halyna."

He concluded his post, "Dear Producers, by hiring professionals, you are buying peace of mind for yourself and the people around you. It is true that the professionals can cost a little more and sometimes can be a little bit more demanding, but it is worth it. No saved penny is worth the LIFE of the person!"

The sleazeball producers are more likely to be worrying about time lost and when they can resume production.

This is the same attitude as the OP. Taj doesn't give 2 shits that a woman was killed on the set he just wants to dump on Alec because he made fun of his orange god.

Once again Taj confirms he is a despicable human being. Right in line with the Trump's

Back on topic, Heard this morning they were shooting tin cans with the same prop guns for fun.

This is looking more and more like a gun safety issue. Even with zero experience with gun safety I know it's a bad idea to mix live rounds with prop guns.

Why is that so hard to figure out?

The armorer should not have allowed that. The other people on set, if they had witnessed that, should have raised an alarm about that. Willful negligence all around the set.

Also, the way the bullet went from Halyna's stomach into the director's shoulder, maybe Alec didn't even get a chance to aim it at the camera and it fired at a steep upward angle while he was bringing it up to aim.
