Alcohol choice may reflect political orientation

Interesting article on The Blaze about how alcohol choice may say on how you lean in political matters.

I drink Crown Royal and Seagrams, but I am also a high turnout voter. I used to drink jim bean, but have not had any in years.

The chart is somewhat correct for me as I vote republican.

I wonder where Libertarians fall in the chart?

I have not had a drink of liquor in decades, but I drink a lot of craft beers. I am an unaffiliated voter.

one of my friends who happens to be far right loves jim beam, and he's a devout member of Lincoln' party so no surprise there. jack daniels association with the party of Lincoln isnt much of a surprise either since it is from TN.

rule #1 of statistics: correlation does not imply causation
what if the correlation is measured as so close to 1 that it is within the margin of error?

Obviously, there were lots of undiagnosed autistics back then.

Any other questions?

FTFY

If you ever seen the spectrum list of behaviors and characteristics used for diagnosing autism in people you'll understand that it has increased dramatically over time. Now whether that is good or bad thing and how properly said spectrum is applied considering the benefits some school districts issue to kids carrying a autistic diagnosis is another point of discussion/contention.

As for the OP's chart its mildly amusing but has a very limited context in narrowing down people to only two political parties and thus only two political viewpoints. So as someone else higher up in the thread has mention correlation does not imply causation.

Pretty much this. The highest turnout beverages across the board are all wine (Smoking Loon, Prosecco, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Columbia Crest, Bogle, Kendall-Jackson and Robert Mondavi), which also skews with age as older people tend to favor wine to hard liquor and older people tend to have higher voter turnout. Then you have the popularity of bourbon among conservatives, which is unsurprising given that bourbon is exclusively produced in conservative areas of the country, so one would assume that local prejudices would see it skew conservative. The only real surprising thing on the list is the differences between similar liquors, such as Tanqueray skewing Democrat while Beefeater skews Republican. That's odd, but also probably the product of a small sample size given the relatively tiny bubble for Beefeater.

Frankly, the most upsetting piece of this graph is that apparently Absolut, Grey Goose and Jose Cuervo are the three most popular liquors in the USA. If I could only drink those three again for the rest of my life, I'd become a teetotaler overnight. Overpriced vodka and fake tequila; people have absolutely no taste.

Interesting. When I drink (which is seldom and little) it's Jim Beam. Although I had apple pie moonshine last night, which I don't see on the chart. Although when I was a liberal Democrat I drank mostly Jack Daniels . . .

I know the more stupid drunk you become the more your think like a brain defective conservative.

That mental disorder kicking in again Moonie? I lean right on most issues but when I drink alot, I tend to agree with liberal issues. I think it is just that drinking loosens people up enough to open their mind a bit. In your case, your self-hate is drowned out by the liquor.

Mixing alcohol and politics is like mixing nitric/sulphuric acid and glycerin with a side of bicarbonate to take the edge off.

It's what turns a nice birthday party or other such gatherings into a real "Hawaiian Luau", with relatives and friends exchanging punches and kicks and other sorts of friendly gestures, and where police and ambulance operators are last minute invitees.

Please stop with the low effort thinking. 1. Your opinion of my mental state is your demented way of seeing things projected onto me. It carries no weight or scientific citation. 2. Science is sample based, not on the self reporting of a single individual. 3. You have never seen had the opportunity to evaluate me on liquor. 4. If you want to witness juvinal thinking, tell people they hate themselves and watch them react. 5. http://psp.sagepub.com/content/early/2012/03/16/0146167212439213.abstract

Lol, that's why everyone loves you Moonie. Do as I say, not as I do. You tell everyone else that they hate themselves and only you can get away with it.

I am shocked you can count to 5.

As somebody who doesn't vote but will drink pretty much any liquor (but not beer or wine), where do I fall on this chart?
