Most wives don't understand a man's needs when it comes to big dual LCD monitors for our PCs. :p

Now you can post in P&N while you are playing CounterStrike. ;) :p

I picked one up when the store opened but I still have a in-store-pickup waiting. You're making me want to get the second one instead of cancelling it. :D

I almost cancelled mine after I ordered it as well, but I knew that I wanted to get a second monitor relatively soon, although I was thinking a 19 incher since I don't really need 22 inches on a second monitor. But, I didn't want to have two completely different monitors because that would look like crap, and at the $189 price point, you really can't beat it.

Actually, a regular 19" is very close in height to a 22" WS. I use an AL2216W that I picked up last fall along with a Hyundai L90D+ and it works great.

I don't know if they use the same stand on the AL2223WD, but the stand my Acer came with was a bit lacking. I picked up a Neo-Flex stand though and couldn't be happier.

Exactly nitroturtle. I used a 22" and 19" for about 6 months and it was a great match. A 22" wide can be thought of as a stretched 19" they actually compliment each other quite well. Vertical res is close too, 1024 and 1050. Almost perfect...... For web pages the 19" may actually be better. Most are 800 or 1024 in width, fills more of the screen.....

Yes. Do an online stock check for some other item in your zipcode.
In the address bar, look for a field starting with "skuid=" or "skuld="
and edit it to the sku for the Acer 22" Monitor: 8357645

I just did that and 1 of 6 stores in my area shows stock.

Interesting, all 4 of my local stores have there name in bold when searched like that (not the grey OOS). Guess it's worth a trip.

Honestly could not be any happier with this screen, I was on the hunt for one of these and I've always been looking around these forums but I'm actually happy with this purchase :) Happy enough for it to be my first post here, thanks for the info gentlemen.

No luck. Even though all stores around me show instock online, the first I went in had about 15 of another model and 0 of the on sale one; ain't gonna bother to hit any of the others as it will probably be more of the same.

what videocards do not support 1680x1050

FYI: did instore pickup..returned nad even though monitors were not on the 10/12% off she gave me 10% off...$170+ $12 tx= $182</blockquote>

some of the older intel integrated graphics. Most of the SiS and Via chipsets do not.

The contrast on this monitor is decent, not great. Running at 1680 x 1050 gives a pretty crisp picture, not the best but good enough.

I bought mine 8 months ago for 300, which was a good deal then.

For this monitor at this price, I'd jump big time. Good monitor for general purpose use. For games that require higher end graphics cards, you will be disappointed i think.

Well, I got back from the store with my new Acer, hooked it up, rubbed my hands in anticipation and, BAM, several stuck pixels. Not on the side either, about a third of the way up and two thirds over from the left. A whole cluster of em. Was a bit disappointed to say the least. So I did an online stock check and found one out of the way place that was still selling them. Went in and exchanged it, brought the new one home, hooked it all up again and, no dead pixels. :) The only thing was that this new one had an older manufacturing date then the one I returned. It looks quite similar but I did notice this model had a bit worse backlight bleeding on the top and bottom edges. I think also the color uniformity is a bit worse. The place was a bit out of the way, they still had a stack of about a dozen. Im definitely thinking of packing it all up again and trying to wrangle another exchange, but part of me thinks it may be hopeless and I should just stick with what I have. It is definitely an improvement over my last monitor. By the way, the one I returned was made in June 2007. The one I got here was made in April. So I guess I just have to play with it a bit more and decide. Maybe a drink will help... :D

With Nvidia cards you can tune the monitor quite nicely. In fact I had never used the utility before (display->properties->advanced->geforcexxxx tab) so I am going to tune my other desktop now for the 2001fp I have.

In for one for $225 with 4-year extended warranty. ANd I already have a buyer for my 6-month old 19" Hanns-G, so knock off another $125 and I'm looking at $100 for this puppy. Thanks OP!

You can get driver for your monitor here. I have the 2005FPW also. These will work in Vista too.

I've been running the monitor through a few more tests and I've come to the conclusion that I'll have to exchange it again. After it ran for a few hours I noticed more things. There is a huge central stripe of brightness on a dark backround. It's quite noticable. Looks like a skunk. Same thing with the solid colors the edges are all dark and its super bright in the middle. On pictures where there is a lot going on its a little harder to notice. Oh well, back it goes. Now I just have to wait until they get them back in stock . :(

Is there any way to find out with manufacturing batches are good and which aren't? Would any of you fellows mind telling me what manufacture date you got? It should be right on the outside of the box, lower left corner of the sticker. I would really appreciate it. :D

Alternatively, might want to head over to FatW and request a code for one of those $20/30/50 off $150+ coupons.
