Anyone know where to order this case in the states? I've read awsome reviews about it, but I can't seem to find any place that sells it - the only place I found was in the UK.

any ideas?

Froogle shows one source now. I contacted them and they will be OoS for atleast 4 months.

There was another Froogle hit here in the States but they wanted $200+ and it doesn't come up
on a Froogle search at the moment. I can't remember the vendor's name :(

Let me know if you find a source.

Let us know what you think of it when you get it. I am thinking about buying this case from Overcool.

Also, I wonder if it is worth spending the extra money ($15) for the Akasa 120MM fans for this case, or if some cheaper fans would be sufficient.

High praise indeed.

One thing is very hard to tell in all the review pics I've looked at.
How nice is the finish on the front plastic panel?? Can it almost pass for aluminum??
The Titan front panel looks very good in pics. Does the Akasa look as good??

I sure want one. Double boxed is nice ;) .

Yeah, that was the review that got me interested in this case. The only problem is there aren't enough pictures!

Google reviews, there are several with good pics. Indyboy2 says it out does his old Antec Titan in apperance. I don't think he needs to lie. ;)

This will be my next case. 120s front and rear with slide out mobo tray
Anodized on the inside will reduce scratches too :D

That Enhance PSU we talked about in GH, will fit well in this case because this Akasa is deep for eATX boards.

Only thing that is holding me back is the front bezel, why in the hell did they not make an aluminum one instead of plastic!

$15 for 2 Akasa fans? If so, I would go for the fans.

No, $15 each plus shipping. I think I am going to go with some fans that have a higher CFM anyway.

Yesterday I received my Akasa Eclipse case from Overcool.com. It came in perfect condition double boxed like someone else mentioned.

Overall I am thrilled with the case, but I did find some minor issues with the build construction.

I was going from a Lian Li PC60 which was in my opinion perfectly constructed. It had only one sharp edge which was covered with a little plastic wrap, and the rest of the edges were rounded. It felt very solid and was pretty flexible. They used thumbscrews for pretty much everything.

So that was what I was coming from.

At first glance I loved the simple yet sharp look of the Akasa, which is one of the reasons why I bought it. I didn't want any fancy 'bling bling' cases, just something that worked. Another reason I upgraded was because I wanted a case with 120MM fan mounts. I also went ahead and picked up 2 Scythe 1600rpm 120mm fans.

Once I opened up the case I got pretty much what I expected from the reviews. My main issue like I said before is the actual build quality. It does not seem to be as high of quality as a Lian Li, lots of rough/sharp edges on the case, even one that was sharp enough to cause a slight cut on my finger.

The other problem (but one I can easily solve) is the fact that they don't use thumbscrews for everything Not to mention with the thumbscrews either they don't line up too great or the actual screws ribbings aren't too good, but they can be extremely tough or even impossible to tighten or unscrew by hand. You can do it, but most would only go half way until I used a screw driver to finish it. That pretty much defeats the purpose of thumb screws. I believe the problem is with the screws used and not the case it self. I will pick up some more thumb screws and try them out.

Those are pretty much my only complaints with the case. Everything else is great. The removable motherboard tray is convenient and works fine. I love all of the little details they added for cable management. I spent about an hour hiding wires and what not, and it turned out great in the end. One complaint most reviews talk about is the fact that the front bezel isn't aluminum, which I was disappointed about until I saw it in person. The plastic bezel in my opinion looks great and seems to be of high quality. I also like the fact that it is a little bit wider than most cases, it just feels a bit roomier without being some sort of monster full tower case.

One thing I was thrilled about was how fantastic this thing cools. I have an Opteron 165 @ 2.5ghz w/ Freezer64 hsf, an ATI X1900XTX w/ Acellero X2 hsf, an Enhance 600w modular PSU, a couple SATA HDD's, and a DVDRW drive. Just reading the onboard motherboard temp at load, it is about 15 degrees celcius cooler than my Lian Li. It does run slightly louder because of the two Scythe 120mm fans, but it is not quite as high pitched as the 80mm fans were. I actually find that even though it is a little bit louder, since it isn't as high pitched it is much more tolerable.

So overall I definitely can recommend this case to anyone looking for a sub $150 case that is simple yet stylish and has some nice cable management features and great cooling. I bet some of the $200+ Lian Li cases are better, but at those prices they are pretty much in another league.

edit: Oh yeah, I love the fact that they included some casters. It's great being able to wheel it around when working in the case. Not to mention it keeps my case from resting directly on the carpet.

Thank you for the hands-on-owner review of my next case. With the room behind the mainboard a low flow fan could be used the force air over the back side of the board. If needed/wanted very near the CPU socket.

All the casters are lockable, are they not?? I hope it doesn't use the tiny metric thumb screws like Lian Li does.

I got the same PSU last week. Be aware that it uses a 120@3.96W and will suck 80+cfm out of the case at 50% load. The fan could be cut back to 3.6W as Enhance uses no warranty sticker that is breakable on a seam.

Brain storm plan: The front grill would be removed, modder's 1/4"octagon mesh installed with a proper filter behind it. The PSU will be flipped, the top panel cut for a filtered intake. Filters because of my garage office :)

Thanks again for the up-date,

Only two of the casters are lockable, but I guess that will suffice. I am not sure what you mean about the thumb screws, they seem pretty standard like the Lian Li except screwing them in by hand is a bit of a pain. I still need to see if it is the screw or the case. I am guessing it is the screw that is the issue.

I forgot the exact size designation FlasH, but LL's have a very small threaded diameter with a fine metric pitch. Normal thumb screws are 6-32s.
Ppl have tried to twist a large standard thumb screw into a Lian Li case ;) If a LL thumb screw hole gets stripped or damaged it can be tapped to 6-32 and the larger screw used.
A Lian Li thumb screw will just about push into a 6-32 nut, it fits that loose.

My hope is that Akasa uses 6-32 thumb screws.
This is important, so take note. Even though they can be anodized in many colors, do NOT use aluminum thumb screws if the area of thread engagement is aluminum. The similare metals will tend to seize. Use only steel threads when screwing into aluminum.
I pre-lubed the all the thumb screws used in both my LL midis w/bee's wax and never had an issue with the aluminum theads, as delicate as they are.

Okay, good news then Galv, the Akasa seems to use the standard 6-32 screws. Not sure why these are so tough to screw in. I don't have any wax to try. One thing I don't like about the Akasa thumb screws is that they dont have a pointed tip.

Yeah, the pointed tip helps. Use some hard bar soap on the new steel thumb screws you get. It really does help the aluminum threads live a long tight life. But since the thread will be lube, use care not to over tighten them. I just hold the thread flat on the soap then twist the end w/my other hand. Bee's wax (yellow in color) works great on road bike threads as a lite locking agent, plus it stops irritating squeaks :)

Glad to hear they are 6-32. Gotta love the polished stainless tray :D

Good luck and thanks for answering my questions.

Price might drop on the Eclipse 62, that might be nice.
The Mirage 62 I don't like because I want a sealed filtered intake and that new front panel
wouldn't permit it.
The build quality is better with the Akasa branded case according to the owner of sidewindercomputers. I did talk to him via land-line.

afaik both will remain in production.
The new front panel looks like a door to me so what's behind it may suit - have to wait & see.
