AIW X800 XT in stock

I was expecting the cards to be somewhere along the lines of $700.
Still very expensive. I'd love to have one.

Yeah, that price doesn't sound that bad. Still isn't MSRP $499?

I love the look of the card, the royal purple color with gold plated everything looks quite nice. Too bad they couldn't integrate an HDTV tuner and then have the GPU work as a hardware encoder/decoder for recording. That is the kind of card I would like, and I think $599 would be a fair price for it.

That (and Dual DVI - maybe even DDL DVI but that's probably pushing it 😛😛), would definitely make the card worth that price. Hell, I just spent $250 on an HDTV tuner card with a hardware decoder...

Yeah, and change the VIVO connector from the S-Video pin setup to an HDMI one.

Wow, now that would be the mother of all cards.

Hmm, maybe nVidia's working to do that. Have a newer PVP that will do the encoding decoding, then have the GPU take care of the sound processing (don't know if anybody else read the article where someone had made a 6800Ultra into an audio processor for 3D audio and said that it was more powerful than the supercomputer stuff they were currently using to handle it)

Put the PVP on a daughter card that HDMI input/output on it (make it a PCI-e x1 or x4 card and then have the regular card be a dual slot solution that actually vents the air out of the case and is silent (kinda like a fully engineered for that card version of the VGA Silencers). You know, maybe nVidia has something like this up their sleeves for SLI. Make it so that when doing video editing/viewing/etc one card will handle the video and the other will handle the audio capabilities.

Bah, I went way overboard with ideas there, too bad I'm not a high up designer for nVidia, eh?

Actually if you look it's no longer the svideo connection. It's something new. Doesn't necessarliy look like hdmi either.

They certainly managed to find room for dual head support now and kept it a single slot solution with an X800 XT chip. It shore is purdy too. Nice job ATI!

I recall a MSRP of $499, which would make it an attractive alternative to the other X800XT models if it gets to that pricepoint.
