I've flown on both. both were just fine. I chose Boeing strictly because they're an American company.

I know quite a few people who work there, Boeing all the way.

I would have absolutely no reason to fly Air China.

Too many fly-by-wire crashes with Airbus!! China Air has lots of problems with flying into mountains for some reason, NO WAY I WOULD FLY THEM.

I'm sorry, but Airbus makes a more comfortable aircraft! Two new airplanes: Delta Boeing 777-200 vs. Lufthansa Airbus A340-300. The Airbus has four engines to the Boeing's two. The Airbus is quiter, and I swear I experience less turbulance whenever on an Airbus aircraft, though this is probably just coincidence.

Reminds me of the old saying from when the DC10s where having a bad string of accidents
"If it ain't Boeing, I ain't going."

fvck that, fly ethiopian airlines. i can bet a $100 they pick up old planes from the airplane graveyard and put them together with duct tape. plus it was a smoking flight which is a lot of fun. i guessing they don't do the smoking bit anymore.

and before anyone asks: yes, ethiopia does have an airline

edit: air china and the multitude of domestic airlines in china are pretty good. and they are extra-friendly to you if you're not chinese (mainly coz you paid much more than a chinese citizen).

If it's the same year plane, it doesn't really matter. Airbus planes tend to be newer than Boeing ones though.

holy crap i did fly ethiopian in 1996, but it was a flight out of Addis Ababa to Beijing and it flew over the himalayas, damn scary if you're in a plane that's rattling like crazy, all the fvcking time.

Uhm ... Lockheed hasn't built an airliner since the L1011 back in the 70's I think.
Boeing is the only manufacturer of large civil aircraft left in the US since they bought out McDonnell Douglas a few years back.
