Everyone does this that has an always-on connection. It allows people to leave us messages, and if we tell them in the away message, know what we are up to.

Whats the big deal with signing off or exiting?
It's like an answering machine, people leave me messages when I'm not around.

How and why is this an annoying problem? It has nothing to do with being cool (that's the lamest thing I've ever heard, BTW). It's not a big deal, get over it

Yeah, important messages. Lets be honest, most people don't say anything worth-while important to an away message. If something was really important, they'd pick up the phone and call. But for that to happen, I guess you'd have to have real-life friends, eh? I'd much rather talk to an actual person than a little sniplet of text that normal consists of 2-10 words.
