Well clearly we need to keep the aid flowing to prop up the current regime's killing. And then we wonder why that part of the world views us with such contempt.

Getting a country addicted to our cash teat then leveraging it to get what we want lest we take the juice away is America tactics 101 friends.

If this isn't a coup, then what is?

Police storm protest camps; 149 dead across Egypt

"Riot police swept in with armored vehicles, bulldozers and helicopters Wednesday to clear two sprawling encampments of supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi, sparking running street battles elsewhere in Cairo and other Egyptian cities. At least 149 people were killed nationwide, many of them in the assaults on the protest vigils.

The interim government declared a monthlong state of emergency, ordering the armed forces to support the police in efforts to restore law and order and protect state facilities. A nighttime curfew for Cairo and 10 provinces also was put into effect."

Most Americans have no idea about this stuff so they are generally confused why their is such hate towards America... Mainly the hate is towards our leaderst, but we see the spill over when the anger becomes violent.

Our media doesn't exactly tell the story on what the aids real effect is.

So what is next for Egypt? Does this have the potential to be a region wide conflict? Is the Islamic Brotherhood going to bring in re enforcements from other countries.

The police were the ones removing the protesters, 2 of them died as well as 5 wounded. Some protesters died as well, however if you shoot at the police what do you expect to happen?

I could be mistaken, but I believe I recently read an article from a foreign correspondent documenting (radical) Islamic fighters from other countries making their way into Egypt to fight along side the Muslim Brotherhood.

Is it a coup if multiple branches of the government throw out the executive for legitimate complaints?

The death toll is up to 278 people. Its sad to say but this is a giant clusterfuck and those are 278 dead martyrs in the eyes of the rest of the Middle-East. In the end you can't have "democracy" at the barrel of a gun.

Interesting....Apparently the Egyptian military was warned not to take this action as there was already a plan in place brokered by the US and the Europeans which both sides (one side being the MB) agreed to prior to this action.

But the United States and the European Union continued to send coordinated messages to army commander General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Interim Vice President Mohamed ElBaradei during the four-day Eid al-Fitr Muslim holiday that ended on Sunday, pleading for a negotiated settlement, Western diplomats said.

"We had a political plan that was on the table, that had been accepted by the other side (the Muslim Brotherhood)," said EU envoy Bernardino Leon, who co-led the mediation effort with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns.

"They could have taken this option. So all that has happened today was unnecessary," Leon told Reuters in a telephone interview. The last plea was conveyed to the Egyptian authorities on Tuesday, hours before the crackdown was unleashed.

This is an issue with Congress and their inability to have a spine and stop it.
What Obama is doing isn't legal yet Congress just goes along with it.
Pathetic.

Obama admin came to the conclusion that they will not decided if its a coup or not. That much thinking is hard.

A law that is not enforced does not exist. Perhaps the Administration is smarter than you give them credit for.

And when these terrorists attack us or our European allies, no one should be surprised in the least. The Arab Spring was a challenge to Al Qaeda. It was a challenge because it provided them with an opportunity to gain power in Egypt, their homeland. But it also took away their reason for existence since there was no longer an enemy in Egypt to hate and blame all their problems on. Now this coup has given them the best news since the death of bin Laden. It brings the people of Egypt to their way of thinking and makes it easy to get contributions and money. I have no doubt in my mind that there is a 100% chance Al Qaeda will make a play in Egypt. It is too tempting to ignore. It's too juicy a prize. The entire leadership of Al Qaeda (with the exception of of the now deceased bin Laden) is Egyptian and has some relations with the MB so the overthrow of Morsi is too good for them. But now I am sure they are planning and letting the police and army and political elite continue the PR campaign for them.

Just when you thought they were down and out, Al Qaeda finds a way. The war may not be going according to plan in Syria but it is in Iraq (yes, Iraq) and now, most surprisingly, in their homeland of Egypt. Why Obama did not let the people of Egypt democratically throw out Morsi I will never know. Now he's stupidly lost patience with democracy and let a coup occur on his hand in the most important country in the entire middle east. What an idiot.

I have read on multiple locations that the rebels have AR-15's and/or M4's. I find this hard to believe, if we were to supply arms they surely would be AK-47's.

Does anyone have a photo of a rebel using an AR15 or M4? Or even an M14 or other modern US firearm?

Thanks.

Which rebels? In Syria there is plenty of video's showing rebels using M4s or AR-15s or other western equipment with fancy optics. Remember who ultimately gets paid when we ship those weapons.

Supposedly liveleaks has video of MB firing on army/police forces. Can't view liveleaks from work so you'll have to look on your own.

Looks like the death count is at least 700+ in one day. I have to say at this point it is hard to justify continuing aid to Egypt.

Go learn something about the Egyptian Revolution.

You mean how the country was stable under Mubarak, Obama/Clinton forced him out and put the country into the hands of Al-Qaeda/Muslim Brotherhood, and now is in total anarchy?

Yeah, Obama/Clinton foreign policy really working out well.
