AHHA!!! Apple G4 clear plastic casings are CRACKING!! MUAHAHA!

Hehe this is hilarious! My Addtronics has yet to develop any cracks and I'll take it's looks over the cube anyday.

Holy Lord, that is great. 🙂

Remember when the G4's first came out, and everyone that owned one was complaining about the horrible stench? Hehehe....

And we won't even talk about the GLOD, which Apple is denying. Pretty soon, all their cheap bullsh!t is gonna come back and bite them in the ass.
🙂 OH, to be ME on that day....(None of you, with the exception of Chef0083, have ANY idea how perfect a day that will be for me.)

Ooohhh, this is rich:

Not all customers were buying the scientific explanation -- or cared. Apple consumers are famously style-minded and will often make a purchase decision based on a computer's color rather than its storage capacity.

"I bought my Cube thinking it would be as pristine as the ad photos," one unhappy customer wrote on an Internet message board. "It is my genuine belief that the lines are minor stress cracks caused in the assembly process."

Check out this gem as well:

Apple insisted that it was impossible that cracks would show up for the first time or expand after the machine was purchased, but suggested the so-called mold lines were so faint that they might not be noticed initially.

"They are very tiny, very faint," said Schiller. "It's like complaining if wood has grains in it. Wood does have grains in it, and it is still beautiful.

Now... Go take a look at my quote in this thread:

Unless you want your computer to be color coordinated & match your decor. And don't give a flying four letter word for copulation about performance.

Did I call it, or what? Since when does a computer company have to defend the looks of it's product?

Die Apple, DIE!

Maybe this will show apple people to start looking at the computer inside. Good looks are only skin deap. Question: Would you like a tan case with a 1.2GHz Thunderbird or a Blue case G4?
For me it really doesn't matter what is after the words thunderbird.
Metal cases don't crack. You crack a case to overclock.
What is the about "Faint lines of how plastic bonds together." Maybe people have started to hit the cubes? That would creat cracks. Apple should have padded the top with the gel wrist pad stuff so they didn't crack.

I love it. It's a fitting fate for people who buy computers based on how the case looks over and above all else.

Have you guys seen one yet? Phew, it's a radiator!! There's no fan, but there is a vent on the top, where you could probably boil water.

MI6,

I would take a G-4 1.2 gigahertz(I will update this with the link later it is at work) running OS-X.

Yakko,

If your link has anything at all to do with BENCHMARKS, save it. I can have my friend Thomas write a benchmark program that will prove definitively that my K6-2 300 is faster than my Duron 1 GHz. --But nobody would buy its validity. So why should we buy the validity of the Apple benchmarks that basically tell the same story?

The Apple is a beautiful design, absolutely beautiful. It's a visual masterpiece and sculptural delight. Gates said that Apple has a technological lead in colors, but it shouldn't be too hard to catch up. We got colored cases now, but this new Apple is visually light years ahead, again.

What a relief to hear they aren't as hot performance wise, I would be profoundly jealous.

DesignDawg,

It has nothing to do with benchmarks. It is really a 1.2 gigahertz. When I get to work tomorrow I will post the link. Just so you know I will not give up my pc for this thing I just want to learn more.

hey, i like the cube... it makes LAN's SO much easier to deal with 🙂 Then again, i could make a custom case out of a suitcase, buy a 17" LCD... and get about the same results.. but i'll wait for the lcd to drop in price by about.. oh.. $1k..

It has been mentioned a few times in the Distributed Computing forum that G4s are very good at cracking. So that is what was really meant, eh? 😉

TheHut your a quickie

🙂

🙂

The G4 is nice. The case is very well done (I mean design not the cracking) the it does come with an LCD ... On the other hand, Macs just suck. Now If they made a TBird 1ghz 256 Megs of Ram with a Voodo 5 and a SB Live PLatnium that looked like that, at a very minimal price differnece, I would take it ...

But back to my point, Macs suck 🙂

Somebody told me that the Mac Cube is capable of playing PS2 games? Is that true? If so, Apple's made a smart decision. We all know that PS2 games are selling like hotcakes. 😉😀😛

And I'm just about sick of hearing about OS X. All Apple has done is take the *nix system and scotch-taped the Mac OS GUI on it. *nix has been available to PC users for an eternity. 😛

"The refraction of light where the plastic bonds together creates the appearance of a line."

who's buying this crap! and what a load of PR bull$hit!

needless to say macs SUCK!

About the cracking of the cases, it happens. Recently though, Apple hasn't been focusing enough in the "quality" department, though, and more on "colors". 🙂 I hate the MacOS but I love the G4 processor.

I'll take a G4 1.2GHz over a T-Bird 1.2GHz any day. Too bad that as of right now neither exist. The reason I'll take the G4 is obviously because it cracks RC5 faster than any processor on the mainstream market right now, not to mention that fact that it's entirely RISC based. Hell, I'd even take a G4 500 over a T-Bird 900. With the debut of MacOS X their OS department is really starting to shape up, also, they just need the software now. That sure is important, isn't it. 😉

One thing you can't say though is that Apple has always had poor quality. Look at the days with the Mac IIfx, IIci, IIcx, etc and you're looking at computers that are STILL running today. The Mac II line was build around the late 80's and early 90s. Sure, the IIfx cost $10,000 in 1990, but it's 68030 processor clocked @ 40MHz was the thing of the day. For the most part, Apple = decent quality in my book, but with some of their newer products, I'm starting to think otherwise. It's good to see they didn't skimp on the processor with their new machines, otherwise they'd be running 603ev"+" processors that cost much less to produce than a G4 (7400).

Apple's marketing has always been a joke, but I'm annoyed that they aren't fixing this problem as they normally do. They fixed the initial problem with the G4 500, so it makes me wonder why they would not jump on an issue such as this. Poor, poor Apple. Please get your act together soon.

DIE APPLE DIE
THEY SELL USELESS COMPUTERS!
THE 500 G4 IS SUPPOSED TO BE 2X AS FAST AS A PIII 800 HAHA, LIKE THAT'S EVER GOING TO HAPPED THEY TESTED ONE OF THESE "BAD BOYS" AND IT COULDN'T EVEN KEEP UP WITH THE 600PIII HAHAH DIE APPLE DIE. REALLY DID PEOPLE GET SO STUPID SO THEY PAY 1799 FOR A COMPUTER WITH 64MG OF RAM 15 GB HARD DRIVE SOME 2 YEAR OLD ATI WITH16MB AND A 450 MHZ G4 HAHAHAHA!
