Where u guys find them for those prices?? If anything, BFG6800GT's are selling OVER retail in the $400-500 range everywhere I see them, including Ebay. o_O Base 6800 i'd believe in the 280-329 range, but definately not the GT's.. Demand is much greater than supply on all of these new Nvidia cards.

Best Buys have then usually if they are listed as black, as I said, you just have to push to get them to look once you arrive... Took 20+ minutes to get mine found..

Punisher, your Motherboard is blue, it would look soooo perfect with the current BFGs. <grin>

It was a very brief couple hour window on BB's site in mid June for pre-oders. The Ultra had the same $100 off sale price for a fleeting moment too.

DAPUNISHER and I ordered from Bestbuy.com about 6 weeks ago and had our card for about a month now. That price was only good for couple of hours.

I think my Chaintech NF3 250 motherboard is blue also but I keep my case closed so I can't remember.

75C full load.

Is that accurate? Is there a better way to get full load temps?

best way is dual monitors...during the time it takes to quit a game, the temp can drop 10C easy...

got mine today too!!!

had to drive 100miles to another BB, but I saved $20 since it was tax free weekend.

EDIT: Like was said, enter your zipcode and the stores listed in black bold text are the ones w/ them in stock.

You have to ask for it as it is not on the shelves, the one I got was lock up in a cabinet behind the counter.

BE PUSHY!

Ahhaha.. Grats man.. Tell me, were you sweating the whole way there hoping it was still available?? My closest BB is like 4 miles away and it was a LONG 4 miles, knowing I had to beat other hungry gamers there to get it. (everyplace is selling out of these!).

Then, worse, on the way back, checking out the box and stuff while you drive down the road, smelling the manual and fresh electronics... Ahhhh, the joys of buying "new stuff".

Anyone got a eVGA 6800 or 6800GT?

I bought them both (couldn't decide which I wanted), and I could NOT run Farcry on them without errors! Tons of artifacts and tearing, regardless of drivers, or settings! Worse, the base eVGA 6800 seems to have a major bug with 4xAA in Doom3, basically cuts 99% of your framerates... eVGA is a great company, but I was horribly pissed off about this.

Got my BFG home, dropped it in, booted up Farcry, and boom, worked perfectly.. Me thinks eVGA got some manufacturing issues. I wasn't about to get a bum card again.. My last card was a ATI 9800Pro and it was nothing but trouble, from day one, even had to RMA it 2 months after I got it, and the one they sent was STILL buggy.. I will spare no expense to get the absolute best card I can find this time, so I was miffed about the whole eVGA experiance.

I called and no one answered for 45mins, they were so busy because of the tax free weekend. I finally got through and talked to the sales manger named Pat who said he had them and they were locked up. I asked if he would put my name on it which he said he would.

I picked up my best friend and made the drive to Myrtle Beach SC to the new BB there. Went in adn found Pat who gladly got my card w/ my name stickied on top and took me to the front to pay.

The girl asked if I was a resident which I lied and said yes, and got out of paying tax on it.

I then took my best friend out to eat w/ the $20 I saved.

Today was a good day. Tommorow when I fly home I'll be able to install it in my pc.

Yes today was a good day :)

What if someone steals it out of your luggage??? I hear rumors of those guys that search bags in the back, taking stuff...

I think if I were you, i'd put that thing in a small pack, and carry right on the plane, keeping it in my lap the whole way.

Any chance those metal detectors and scanners can damage anything on the card?

I've heard horror stories about them wiping pictures from digital camera flashmedia.. No clue if true, but still something to consider... Maybe you could pass it around the side? I'm sure they will make you open the box and the guard might fondle it or something. o_O

I havent unwrapped it yet. its staying in the BB bag w/ the receipt.

I went through the xray machine w/ a 4600 a couple years ago and it was fine, I dont think it will be a problem. Hell I ran my wifes computer through the same machine and it is fine(what I have been playing Doom3 on)

Can anyone please tell me what to do? I have been trying to buy this card for ages now but none of the stores in Northern California Bay Area have any. Everytime i check the website everything is greyed out, and i have been calling best buy for the past 2 weeks now, EVERY DAY. If someone could tell me whats going on and when Best Buy is gonna get some cards, it would be appreciated

some machines have strong magnetic fields inside them and its not reccomended that you run them through there...

however, ive run laptops, pcs, and all kinds of parts through them without any problems.

Well I was only a few blocks from my local Best Buy today so despite the fact that one of their people checked the shelf and said it was empty I dropped by to check for myself. Sure enough, there was a place for the BFG 6800GT priced at $399 but it was empty.

The odd thing is they had about 5 X800Pro models sitting in the X800XT spot priced at $499. The boxes were clearly X800Pros and the locator clearly stated X800XT.

Guess I'll try again tomorrow and see if they have any locked up. Thanks!

My best buy doesent even HAVE a place for the BFG 6800 GT OCs. Does that mean they never will get one?

It's crazy that people are having to go through all this in order to buy $400+ card. :Q
They should be bending over backwards trying to sell it to us yet it's the complete opposite. This reminds me of the PS2 launch.

That's only valid for analog tape media. The amount of magnetic force required to frag a flashcard or hard drive, nevermind the actual circuitry of a piece of hardware, would suck the iron from your blood. :Q

That highly depend on how close you are to the source of the field. As distance get far, the force diminished to next to nothing.

As in normal situation, the machine is closer to the scanned things inside than human outside. Besides, there is shield in the wall to prevent leakage of the magnaetic flux. In other word, it is quite possible that the flashcard or harddrive get damaged while the iron in human's blood stay.

I am aware of that, i have stuck magnets to hard drives to prove this to friends, but its still not reccomended.

No, it doesn't... Most all Best Buys seem to not have the BFG's on the shelf... You gotta have them check their computer, and see if they got it in stock, if it says they do, then force them to look for it, usually in cages, up on canopies, or in the back room. Best Buy SKU for the BFG is: 6684652 Most clerks won't even know where to look for em, if it says they got em in stock, ask for a manager to find it.
