So beautiful!

Picked up Doom3 with it... :), doom3 runs fantastic!

Got it at Bestbuy for $399.99.

Rig - AthlonXP 2500+ @ 3200+ 2.2ghz
1ghz PC3200 - 2-2-2-5 200mhz
NF7-S V2.0
Nvidia 61.77
timedemo demo1 1

Geforce3 Ti200
640x480 Low Quality - 32.7FPS

BFG Geforce6800 GT OC
1600x1200 High Quality = 56.7FPS

Not bad, over 2x the resolution, and with high quality, with an extra 24fps... :)

I like it!

Gotta overclock and do some tweaks.

Looks like FX5900 card. Uses similar heatsink. What's your idle and load temp on that 6800GT?

You nabbed a BFG GT OC for 400 bones?

Damn. I need to make a foray into my local Best Buy...most online retailers are asking $500 for that card, easy.

Well, I just overclocked the card to Ultra Speeds, 400/1100...

Its idling at 63C right now, when I had first installed it, it was idling at 61C.

So..

350/1000 - Base Idle- 61C
400/1100 - OC Idle - 63C

I"ll play some doom3 tonight, and update this post with the load temps.

Well, not to brag too much, but my Gainward 6800 GT (which I'm sure you've seen a thread or two about it) comes warranted for 6800 Ultra speeds and was only $435. Oh, and it came with dual DVI. :D

Nice card. Its good to see a company changing the reference design.

Looks like temps are no better than stock reference cooling and actually worse, but I've no idea on your case cooling. I would imagine the noise is similar to FX5900 as that cooler looks very similar to my BFG FX5900 cooler.

I can't tell how loud it is, the rest of my system is pretty loud. The fans are pretty small though, nothing noticeably different to me.

MBM reports 40C idle for CPU, 26C idle for ambient temp. Nvidia's temperature reader says 40C ambient... seems kinda high.

EDIT: Idle temps are hovering around 62C, dropping down to 61C every other 5 seconds..

Nvidia has a temp monitor built into their drivers for cards that support it.

After doing a bit of playing around, I ran a few timedemos, and I exited, and checked as quickly as possible.

75C full load.

Is that accurate? Is there a better way to get full load temps?

Wow, thats a great card.. I picked up a 6800 the other day, and it rox, but the lifetime warranty on the BFG is simply too good to pass up!

Hope my local best buy has them in stock tomorrow when I head over there. LOL

Yep! Great card! Kudos to BFG for a real lifetime warranty. HSF is very shiny, all copper, and the PCB is blue :).

Head over! I saw some posts by some BestBuy worker on here (forgot his name, sorry), saying some BFG6800GTOCs have been in stock on east coast, to my surprise it was there when I showed up!

I managed to pick up the last one they had on the shelves... I did not expect it to be there (went last week).

I have mine overclocked to 400/1100, which is base Ultra speeds. I don't want to push it too hard, its already running great :).

Goodluck!

According to Best Buy.com I have 7 stores within 25 miles from my house, and 5 of them have them in stock. They grey out the ones that no longer have them in stock. Going to be hit or miss I think, demand is so high on them.

I'll probably just head up to the closest store, if they are out, then have them call another store and hold it. Then i'll need to head back and return the 6800 eVGA (bleh 1 year warranty) at a different store, and wait 2 weeks to get my money back.. LOL! This whole 6800 thing has been crap, i've bought and returned 2 cards already.

But a 1 year warranty seems rather lame, so lifetime BFG sounds way better.

How did you check stock? I used the online "Find Your Product at a Best Buy Store" and it gave me locations in my area - some grey and some bold black but didn't give me any stock levels. I called the 2 stores closest to me that were in bold and had them check the shelves and neither had any.

Dude I had the same issue...

If its in Black, then they have then in stock RIGHT NOW... They just don't know it because most people that work there are tards... I went in, asked for it, guy goes "Uhh, its on the shelf, if its not there, we don't got it"... I'm like "No gumby, these are $400 cards, they won't be on your shelf...".. He looks on the computer, says they got 2 in stock, and he goes "Sorry, computers wrong.." and walks away...

I finally find my friend that works there, that knows all this crap, and he goes "Well, I think we got em, let me check, they won't be on the shelf though."... He walks around, talking to a few people, finds them up on the canopy, and moves a ladder over and grabs one and he was pretty impressed with its looks. =) Anyway, he said they are either up on the canopies, in the locked cages on the floor, or in the locked cages in the back room... The thing is, most retards at Best Buy don't know where to look for them...

I had my pal check the computer, and almost every store in the area had 2-3 in stock, and 99% of the people working in them don't even know it. So my best advice, head up to the store with the SKU of the card, have them directly check on the computer their counts.. If it says they got em, they got em, just have people look for it, and don't leave till they find it.. If that store is out, write down the names of the other stores that have them, and make customer service call and hold one.

Best Buy SKU for this card is: 6684652 Model Number is: BFGR68256GT

Good luck! My pal says MOST stores Nationwide have 2-3 of these in stock, but its a chore to find someone NOT-LAZY to find them... Oh, and this card is definately heavy as heck, and even lights up blue in your case.

Looks like it has a heatpipe though... My BFG FX5900 certainly didn't have that "loop" at the top.

Intersting... your fans appear to be motionless, but the card is still lit up... Is this the case? Is the card constantly lit up as long as there is power to the PC?

don't feel bad. I'm actually very happy with my PNY 6800GT. Got it at compusa.
It OC at 423/1180 with stock cooling and idles at 54C. I get 12300 on 3dmark03.

I don't know, I have read posts from hardocp and it seems the PNY is able to OC at higher clock/memory and is cooler.

I'm happy with my PNY

Heres two more shots, without flash, so you can see the LED system better.

So BFG's didn't come with this incredible sink/fan/led setup before? I'd be friggen worked if I got one and they changed to this elite setup AFTER I bought it.. I'd probably send it back to them for a new one.. LOL

All in all, this is the best video card i've ever owned/seen... eVGA6800's have a 4xAA bug, and don't work right on Farcry.. This card doesn't have either of those issues.. Thumbs up! Thanks for the recommendation though by Actaeon! Heres another shot.

I love the counter rotating fan system with all of that copper and heatpipes.. Really flushes the heated air out efficiently from what i'm seeing so far... Really high quality aftermark-like setup.

Previous BFG 6800GT were all stock reference design. Only now are we seeing different cooling and design from various vendors.

I like this new design better but I paid $299.99 plus tax for my BFG 6800 GT. :p I think I can get much better and cooler cooling for $100. ;) My reference design BFG 6800GT idles at 52/53 C.

Plus I also have BFG FX5900 flashed 5950 Ultra that I'm using on my HTPC computer that looks just like your GT. Same color, similar heatsink, same fan, and same led color so I know how cool that card looks in the case. :)
