You realize how much tabloids/mags pay for paparazzi pics ? The photographers make thousands on a single shot if sold... that's why these guys are willing to wait hours or even days for a single sighting of a celeb. Hence also the reason they are fat... lots of alone-time with donuts and coffee. Anyway, my point is it's a job to them.
