Was hoping for good things. But this looked terrible even from previews,.... Which typically make junk look good.

Wow those professional reviews are scathing. It does have an 84% user review for what that's worth.

Anything that gets compared to Battlefield Earth definitely has some issues.

Oh shit - it isn't even the score keeping me from this one, at this point.

I was so interested in this movie, simply because of the concept and cast.

But I had gone all this time without realizing WHO is responsible for the movie: M. Night.
= hell no.

M. Night Shyamalan has directed movies that are surprising, hokey, suspenseful, sentimental, clever, touching or cheesy. But until After Earth, he hadn't made any that are dull from end to end.
The Last Airbender. :colbert:

I was hoping that Now You See Me would be good. It started off today with a good rating, but like most movies that don't get screened early to critics, it's flunkin' the tomato meter! So, it looks like if I want to see a magic-filled movie, I ought to watch The Illusionist or The Prestige. Ah, we could even feel like we're back in 2006 and have an argument over which one is better! :)

I saw Now You See Me yesterday. It was a fun movie. I won't mind watching it again.

M. Night Shyamalan coming to Syfy

Syfy has finalized a deal with filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense) and television producer Marti Noxon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer) to produce the scripted pilot project Proof, the network announced today. “In Proof, after the tragic accident and sudden death of his parents, the son of a billionaire tech genius offers a large reward for anyone who can find proof of life after death,” a press release states.

Shyamalan and Noxon will co-write the pilot, with Shyamalan directing. No air date or casting has been announced.

Proof marks Shyamalan’s first foray into television. His last film that he wrote and directed, 2010′s The Last Airbender, was a critical and commercial misstep. Shyamalan will also direct the upcoming Will and Jaden Smith movie After Earth.

Honestly, I stopped taking professional reviewers seriously. Every professional review I see always has something vapid and high brow to say, like they're just reaching for viewership. User reviews, while.... interesting at times, are where it's at, because at least those are honest.

This looked pretty uninspiring from the trailers. Ill wait until it hits Netflix now.

That's good to hear. I was hoping that the movie would try to be more fun than cerebral sort of like The Italian Job, but it sounds like it doesn't aim for that.

Worth nothing. There shouldn't be user ratings for a movie that isn't released yet. It's just a bunch of Will Smith fans with PE getting excited at this point.

I wonder if this is in someway a sequel to "The Happening", M. Night's ABSOLUTE worst movie ever.

In The Happening
the planet or mother nature or whatever kills off everyone as a warning that humans have become a threat. Maybe the earth kills off everyone, evolves everything (plants, animals, wildlife, etc) over the course of a thousand years, and now we're at the After Earth plot.
