Awesome! What motor did you get a B16a1(2) or a B18c1? For that price I'm assuming a first gen B16a1, JDM spec. It's a nice motor.

Vtec at 5600 and responds nicely to mods. Add a intake and exhaust to liven it up a little and you'll notice a difference. ES Oval is an awesome muffler that looks like stock and will give you a few horses.

My B16a2 fully tuned and with all the bolt-on's would pull on V8 Camaro's. 🙂

Gotta love the look on their faces when a little Civic kept up with a 13-14 second car. 🙂

Because I'd be losing $2600 anyway, this is what I would have done, personally. I'd find a newer-gen Integra with mileage in the lower 100k's for under $5000. Drive it for 100k miles and sell it for over $2000.

I'd get to drive around a newer car for a few years, still lose just as much money as he did...if that. After all, which car do you think will require more repairs down the line?

But again, it's his money and to each his own...

Yea, it's a 1st gen b16. It's my bro's car now so I don't really care what he does to it. He has kept it clean and simple, none of that ricer mods or stickers. I'm looking forward to driving it this weekend.

must have been lucky. a year earlier, couldn't find anything around here under $4k really that wasn't a giant ball of sh!t. Granted, we were under a time crunch so we couldn't wait out for "da great find" but any civic under 3k had ~120k miles on it and was an even earlier 90's model. And they were all pretty much falling apart interior wise.


but to clarify, I don't think your brother should have done it unless he was going to do the work and enjoyed that kind of thing. that's when I'd say it's worth it. assuming you don't break it.. heh.

If it is in tip top shape and you put a new motor and tranny in it, what is the problem? Good luck finding a reliable honda with low miles on the motor for that much.

Congrats. I just finished a B16 swap into my CRX HF and the difference is night and day. I did more with the engine though and with my light car, it's pretty zippy. I put a lot more money into my car, but then again I did stuff with suspension and brakes and exhaust etc etc. Can't complain about the gas mileage either. Let me know how it is

Nope...word got around that I was looking and a couple months after I bought the coupe, someone offered me a 93 hatch w/80k miles for $2000 🙁

He could have sold the Integra for $xxx worth of parts or donated it and gotten a tax deduction. If he spent $2600 on a 92-95 Civic, he'd probably get at least $2000 after 50k miles. He'd end up with $2000 + xxx.

What sort of resale value will a vehicle w/300k miles on the chassis and a rebuilt engine/tranny fetch?
