Guys, we need to continue the systemic screwing of certain races in America because if we don't keep screwing them then people will think badly about them even more than they already do.

The answer is clear: continue screwing!

Funny, if any race is getting screwed its Caucasians considering there are no laws specifically protecting them. Oh right, discrimination laws were written to protect all races, ya OK. Single, white, male is the most discriminated against demographic these days. You can thank AA for that among other things.

Truly, the most oppressed group in America is the white male. Whatever will we do?

I'm going to join in here.

My feeling about AA was always that it was a good idea...for one generation. Then it had to go. The whole point was to give one generation a lift, which would then create better parenting and some successful role models for young minorities, and this then would be self-sustaining. It either hasn't worked all that well, or it's worked OK but other downward forces were too strong and the best we can say is that the situation would have been worse without it.

Either way, its time has come to an end, and well it should. Still, it's funny to listen to people beating on a dying carcass. And listening to angry white men complain of being persecuted has given me no end of guffaws for almost 4 decades now. Yet I can't let these selfish reasons influence my judgment that it's time has passed.

I think AA based strictly on race should probably be ended, but there are still a LOT of minorities who need help. Ironically there are probably more minorities today raised in poverty because of the welfare state than because of racism.

I'd like to see the quotas and set-asides replaced with training programs. Take the worst performing schools and slam them with qualified teachers and assets, maybe one teacher per twelve kids, so that those kids get super smart and can easily get into colleges and find jobs. Couple them with unions' apprenticeship programs, maybe with an extra year or two of government school to get the kids well established. Work with local businesses to develop business and vocational classes like commercial foods, equipment operation, bookkeeping. Instead of requiring businesses to lower standards to get a certain racial mix, let's raise the poorest minorities to a level where businesses will be eager to hire them. That way our society is enriched and strengthened rather than being weakened and claiming it's being strengthened by "diversity".
