Advice on overclocking my 64 3500

Can anyone with any experience with my mobo give me any clue on how to get any o/c out of it.

Specs :
Amd64 3500 newcastle
Abit av8 3rd eye mobo(flashed to latest bios)
2x512mb crucial ballistix pc3200 @ 2-2-2-10
Gainward 6800GT
Antec neopower 480w psu
Now with this setup it should easily o/c to 210 fsb giving me 2.31ghz at 2-2-2-10 memory timings.
It won't even do 204. Temps are fine, 39 idle and 51 at load on the cpu.

I have the agp/pci locked at 66mhz
I have turned off fast writes, lowered the LDT to x4, upped voltage to cpu and memory, tried the agp/pci lock at 74mhz and set the memory speed to 333 but its not having any of it. Even with only 1 stick of memory in it still won't play ball.

It did do 218 at 2.5-3-3-10 though, but that yields about the same performance as cas 2 at 202 and ballistix should easily do 210 at cas 2 shouldn't it?

Only thing I can think of is if thers any simple setting that needs changing in the bios that is preventing me from achevieing a stable o/c.

Any help appreicated.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem with my Amd 64 3500+ on an Abit av8 3rd eye!
Any help would be highly appreciated.

specs:
Amd64 3500
Abit Av8 3rd eye
Asus ax800xt pe
2* Kingston pc3200 512
Aopen 400w psu
WD raptor 74g

Which slots do you have your ram in? Mines pretty stable (i.e. everything runs great except for the small FFT torture test in Prime95) at 230x11 and I have my ram in slots 3 & 4. I put my timings at 2.5-2-2-10 and it works well. Vcore is at 1.475, vdimm at 2.7.

Could you please tell me the difference between installing in memory slots 1 and 2 or in 3 and 4?
I've installed them in slots 1 and 2 and my overclocking fails even at fsb 216.
Any help would be highly appreciated.

Not sure what the difference really is. I've just read a lot of posts about people who try different slots and get a better oc.

When I lower the memory clock to 333 everything runs stable at fsb 220, so I'm thinking it's my ram that's holding it back. Thing is in benchmarks the results of memory clock at 333 with fsb 220 equals memory clock at 400 with 200 fsb. Any thoughts on this?

Check the post i've made yesterday with a link to an excel file.

There I go from 200 to 300fsb ( in 5 mhz steps), with 7x, 8x and 9x multipliers.
You can see the effect of changing fsb and memory divisors has on bandwith of the system.

you got to lower your LDT from 5x to 4x.

my specs:

ABIT AV8
AMD64 3500 (newcastle) 245/11@2695Mhz
KOOLANCE EXOS AL CPU/GPU
BFG GF6800 GT OC @ 433/1000
1gig CORSAIR TWIX CMX512-3200XL (freq. at 192.5Mhz (2.5 3 3 6 13 16)
WDC 120gig 7200
audigy gamer
Ultra x-connect 500W
Lian-li pc-65

Hello guys, I'm new here, I'm Italian and I have the same system as Rigs. I got really stable system with 3500+ newcastle at 270 FSB and 2700MHz. The only thing I had to do is setting the LTD to x2 because in test like 3dMark I got errors with my 9800pro. What I could think to resolve the problem is by setting the LTD to lower value and try.

I dont have the same Mobo but ran into the same problems with the 3500+. I tried the PCI lock, LDT 4x and upping voltage. My method was to drop the memory to 166 (333) and also the multiplier to 10x. I can run 235FSB (2.35ghz) without touching voltage. That slows my RAM down to 195. I can go to 240 and get ram to 200 but there it requires an increase in voltage.
