I mean, come on. That should only trigger if a user posts a thread in Off-Topic with "YAGT" in the title.

Before you guys shoot the messenger over the content of the ads - Anandtech sells its ad space to a broker, who then cycles the ads through. Sometimes a more shady vendor won't flag their ad correct, and so we'll get a banner for a Free iPSWii60DollarWalmartGiftCard asking us if we want Sanjaya to be the next American Idol.
I imagine they're in the process of correcting this right now.

Answer to this? Obvious.

Speaking of ad content, I just got cycled in a banner for Match.com or something along those lines with some woman in a matching leopard-print bra-and-panty set.

Hah!

I wonder if a mod or someone is going to give an update on the situation. I honestly don't have the problem anymore, but others are still experiencing popups, ads and what not.

I'm a bit confused.

The ads were gone for me, but now their back. At least the banner a the bottom causing flashbacks...

🙁

Flash banners can easily spawn popups without any complication, and that might be what we're seeing here.

Firefox blocked one that I got, the other was a tribalfusion pop-under. I hate those.

:Q!

At what point do you decide to find a different forum that doesn't use popups and things that float around the page? 🙁

AnandTech has dealt with this before. I expect they'll fix it again this time, give 'em a chance. I haven't seen a single one yet, not even the lady in the leopard-print outfit 🙁

It seems to have stopped. Hey Mech can I blame this on Vista? 😉

Ha, I thought I saw IE's popup blocker block something. Then I actually saw one get through. At that point I said oh crap I hope I'm not infected with spyware.

just got one, a stop sign scrolled from the left side of my screen and stopped right in the middle. it wanted me to click on it to take a stupid survey.
