so... wait.... "she was found by her husband" could mean two things...

did her husband find her dead or was she found dead next to her husband's body?

If you think it means that then you need to take a few more English classes.

actually, it's because of all the english classes that i can recognize the bolded statement above as being potentially confusing to people.

You would be correct if another party were mentioned, 'she was found dead by her husband' by the police.

In that case it would imply that she was next to her husband.

In this case though, you're wrong.

no, you're wrong. even if the police said it, that still doesn't solidify whether or not she was found dead next to her husband or if her husband found her dead and told the police.

(Hey wait a minute, is 'QFT' passive?)

Police: Suspect In Custody In Actress' Death

(CBS/AP) NEW YORK New York City police have a man in custody in the death of actress Adrienne Shelly, who was found hanging from a shower rod in her West Village office last Wednesday, CBS 2 News has learned.

Sources tell CBS 2?s Ti-Hua Chang a construction worker has allegedly confessed to the crime.

The worker allegedly punched the 5-foot-2 actress after she complained about the noise he was making in the West Village building where her office is located, killing her.

He then allegedly admitted to dragging the body up to her office, and positioning her in the shower to make her death look like a suicide.

The medical examiner's office had not yet ruled whether the death of the petite actress best known for her roles in the Hal Hartley films "Trust" and "The Unbelievable Truth" was a homicide or a suicide.

Police had been hesitant to label the case a suicide after no suicide note was found and sneaker prints that didn't match Shelly's shoes were found in the bathtub.

Shelly, whose birth name was Adrienne Levine, was found Wednesday evening hanging from a shower rod in the bathtub of a Greenwich Village apartment, by her husband Andy Ostoy.

Shelly, who was born in Queens and grew up on Long Island, also had a 3-year-old daughter Sophie.

what a dumb bastard... wtf... honestly. it's called being an adult. you don't punch someone when they complain about the noise you're making....

what a dumb motherfvcker... really.

Seriously though, as a cable tv technician for years...I used to hate it when people would come up to me and talk sh!t. For some odd reason, people (especially in Manhattan) feel that it is their right to interfere with someone doing his job, and it gets frustrating. While I do not condone hitting a woman, and I surely doubt he meant to kill her...she probably deserved to get hit. No one knows exactly what she did to tempt the guy.

How do you know?

Construction worker in Manhattan...gotta be Mexican. 😉

Name sounds Asian. I saw him on the news last night but he was hiding his face. He looked like he could have been either Mexican or Asian.

Anyway I don't think the fact that he's an illegal immigrant really has any importance. That's like getting pissed that someone who killed someone in a drive-by shooting was speeding.

Actually Ti-Hua Chang is the name of the reporter and not the construction worker. The article could have been worded better.

Dumb question...will he get deported immediately? Or is he going to go to jail, then get deported after his time is up? Or is he allowed to stay in the USA after his jailtime? How does it work when an illegal immigrant commits a crime?

Killer staged her 'suicide'

Suspect confesses after cops find footprint in victim's tub

The life of actress Adrienne Shelly, who gained critical fame for her role in 'Trust,' was cut short last week when she was found dead in West Village office.

Actress Adrienne Shelly's hanging death in her West Village office bathroom looked like suicide. It turned out to be murder.

The stunning whodunit was cracked yesterday after cops linked a bathtub sneaker print to a teen construction worker who allegedly snapped when Shelly made a noise complaint last week, sources said.

Diego Pillco, a 19-year-old illegal immigrant who had been renovating the apartment below Shelly's office, told cops in a chilling confession that he was afraid of getting arrested and deported, sources said.

So he followed the 40-year-old married mom of a toddler into her apartment and knocked her unconscious, sources said.

Pillco told police he panicked and staged a suicide - using a bedsheet to string up the petite actress by her neck from a shower curtain rod, sources said.

He was ultimately done in by a Reebok sneaker print he allegedly left in the native New Yorker's bathtub, sources said.

His arrest yesterday came as a relief to Shelly's loved ones, who refused to believe the well-regarded indie actress and director would take her own life.

That's horrible. I'm usually very liberal on most matters but one thing I have a low tolerance for is illegal immigration. I can say this as the son of a legal immigrant/naturalized citizen.

They found sneaker prints in the tub that are not hers.

Just keep the southern border.

this makes me sad. I loved Adrienne Shelly In Hal Heartley movies, especially "Trust", one of the best movies of the 90s which somehow most people have never heard of.
