Now, I know Adobe Photoshop is considered a professional high-end graphics editor with a zillion features....
But, for "normal" home users that want to be productive with pics, web-pages, etc. I'd like to recommend Uleads PhotoImpact product.
It's really a very good program, has plenty of features to keep you interested and busy, and has the advantage of being affordable.
I originally got turned onto them because PhotoImpact 4.5 was bundled in with a scanner purchase. Then a while back there was a FAR Upgrade deal to version 6 -- so now i use that.
I think version 8 is the current version -- but I know I've seen lower versions in jewel cases at places like OfficeDepot and/or Half-Price Books for ~$10 or less. Don't let the price fool you... It has plenty of easy-to-use features.
I also noticed that 1&1.com is bundling it (along with NetObjects Fusion -- which is also an excellent app.) with their web-host service for the cost of shipping.
Not to diss on Photoshop but unless you're a professional graphic artist, I'd definately consider Ulead PhotoImpact.

I learned Photoshop on my own way back in version 3. My favorite software. I own legitimate versions, but not recent versions (5 was last I paid for). A couple questions for anyone that knows.
1. What versions qualify for this upgrade? I thought I remember seeing that you must have a license of 6 or 7 to qualify for the CS upgrade. Anyone know for sure?
2. How does the activation process work? If I install on my computer, can I install it on my wife?s computer that?s like 6 feet away?

"Adobe Photoshop CS Upgrade
To install upgrade successfully, you will need a licensed version of Photoshop 7.0 or earlier on the same platform as this purchase.
NOTE: Upgrade does not apply to Photoshop Elements, Photoshop Album, Photoshop Limited Edition, or PhotoDeluxe licensed users."
7.0 or earlier? Meaning...you could use something as old as 5.0? Hm...I might want to double check with what it says on the box.
