I have faith in you. :) You'd uninstall it because, at random, ZA decides that absolutely nothing will be let through either way. No incoming or outgoing packets allowed.

You uninstall it, but you still don't have your connection (ZA still acting as if it's installed and malfunctioning)
You remove the registry keys and hope that you don't have to reinstall your network stack as well

Does that sound like "decent" software to you?

no, i suppose it doesn't. i guess if that has happened to you, i can see where you're coming from.

Yeah. I've done technical support for three of the nation's four top cable internet service providers, and I've seen constant problems with Zone Alarm. It's kinda sad. :( But I hear that Black Ice is no longer free and that Tiny Personal Firewall isn't free either. However, Zone Alarm Pro ranks up there with "decent" software. :) :p

This story is bullshit. Don't you think this would have been reported on other sites? It says in the "article" that Adobe announced it on Friday... well I don't see anything on their web site. The "article" also mentions that CNN reported that this supposed list of pirates was forwarded to the FBI. Well, where did CNN report it? I don't see anything on their web site or any of their TV channels. Seems like an awful lot of silent reporting and announcing...

Wake up... it's BS--pure and simple. The reason people write crap like this is because they know the gullible masses will fall for it. Use your god-given skepticism. Check out the SOURCE of information before believing it--notice how razorart.com doesn't provide one.

ive installed zonealarm (free one) on numerous systesms and reinstalls of win2k (not related to zonealarm, more like spring cleaning) and have never run into a problem where i had to uninstall it. i think zonealarm, fwiw, is a good firewall for us simple minded folk. there are more robust firewalls, like tiny/sygate firewall that are rule-based, which some people like due to being highly customizable on what traffic they allow to pass to and from their system, which are probably better IF configured properly. ZA does what it's supposed to do and nothing more. plus it's free.. cant argue much about that.

I went looking and found a 30 day trial period on their software -after which requires a purchase or a hack to continue using. Actually, 2.0 is free for home use. Nevermind, I'm on crack. :p

Uh... I actually read through the Windows 98 Second Edition EULA when I was bored one day  I sold Win98se to someone and forgot to send the EULA along with it (yeah, I know, I know. I sent absolutely everything including the orange "where do you want to go today?" flashcard type thing :D), and he didn't want me to bother sending it. So I read it before throwing it away.
